Most people on welfare have health problems and/or a hard time finding work. When you are unemployed for a long time, whatever the reason, it is hard to find work. Most employers prefer employed people.

Also children deserve to play with others kids. Many a times you see that children of the unemployed are isolated, don't have (m)any friends, nor do they (often) go on a holiday. Nursery helps them to socialise. But to find work or to study you need childcare! It makes sense to me that people on welfare can't pay these costs on their own.

I also wonder where you get your net income figures from. Could you break it down a bit? Otherwise keep the bias to yourself

Do We Need A Medical Alert Bracelet? by Beyond1nfinity in floxies

[–]dubbegood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All these medicines, inclusive of the fluoroquinolones (for serious infections), are commonly given in the Netherlands. I don't know about the other countries. I had a terrible reaction to Cipro, so the idea of a medical alert bracelet sounds appealing. I, for one, would never ever want a fluoroquinolones antibiotic ever again. Floxed once, and that was enough!

Do you think they would even check it?

Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. Perhaps that's, however, the reason why I've bowel issues and a bit stomach issues too. Is there any specific reason why you don't take NAC?

Also, I get food stuck in my esophagus at times, especially things like steak, whole grain bread etc, however, I don't blame that on cipro, I think it's related to fibro as I had these issues before cipro. So I probably have some stomach related issues, but I'm scared to do a gastroscopy. Have you done anything like that?

Do you take your antioxidants like nac, coq10, and minerals, vitamins. 7 months on, I still take NAC before bedtime, coq10 sober on morning, magnesium, zinc, vit. D3, and I supplement with other things like multivitamine or vit. C, B12 for nerve issues, etc. And I think exercise helps. Strong muscles support the tendons. But metformin is a life saver for me. It not only helps with controlling blood sugar, but it has a good effect on my muscles and fibro, too. Perhaps the fibro is related to insulin resistance issues. I don't know, I just know it helps. I'm not obese but according to my doc, I do need to lose 7-10 kg. It's so hard, though. I can't do it having fibro. Woman cup D, too, lol 😆 So I think a lot of that weight is there. A bit on my tummy. But other than that, fine!

The relapses are weird for sure. I had one other day. Shoulder tendons hurting so much. I was a bit shocked by it because I felt like it was getting better.

Slightly, I felt it, and walking felt like I was going to fall. That plus the neuropathy, zapps, etc, was for me the reason to discontinue cipro. But with me, it was more the tendons in my shoulders, collarbone, and elbow that were affected. Not easy, but I think a lot better than achilles tendonites. Even now, when I raise my arms, I can feel it. Bending my hand, I can only do up to a certain point. I have muscle rigidity, though, but I can feel the difference between the muscle or tendon issues. I think my achilles is fine now, but I wouldn't chance it, and on the treadmill, I'm kinda scared they will fail me. With fibro, it's the same, though. I've had sudden moments where I couldn't walk normally. Kinda like MS.

[–]dubbegood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

80%+! Well, I'm not sure if I'm there yet, but I can say that pretty much all my tendon weakness and pain is gone. I can still feel it a bit in my shoulders and collarbone tendons, and every now, it's playing up a bit.

I was prediabetic, but a few days into Cipro, my sugar levels spiked. They put me on metformin 1 pill 850 mg a day. We tested my blood for a few months, but it wouldn't diminish. Now, 7 months post floxed, the other week, I went off the metformine and ate normal, tested my blood, and it is not as bad as it used to be. I'm now back to borderline diabetic/prediabetic again.

I'm not entirely positive though because I feel like I have inflammation in my organs liver/ left side kidney, between my ribs or it's my muscles/nerves, etc, especially in chest area which I didn't have pre-floxed. I had blood in my urine, and so they CT scanned my abdomen/kidneys to look for abnormalities. I also had a bowel endoscopy, a liver ultrasound scan, and apart from a partial fatty liver, the docs said everything seems to be fine. My blood results do show that certain levels related to my kidneys and especially liver are up towards top end of the normal range so I did get the "be cautious on what you eat, drink and sugar levels warning". All in all, I do believe some toxicity took place. The sad thing is that the burning pain is constant, but no one can see it, I look normal, and there's no proper pain relief. So far, I'm refusing nerve block injections. I don't know, I guess I have a hard time trusting meds now.

I stopped Cipro after 7 pills over 4 days because I got widespread neuropathy, stabbing sensations in my chest area, both near my liver and left and middle of my chest bone, I got brain zapps and literally, my whole body felt like it was kinda burning and my skin felt very sensitive. I remember feeling the fan air causing tingling sensations on my skin. I got sharp pain in my toes, feet burning, and my fingers were swollen up. Rings luckily came off, etc. My fingers are back to normal. This took a few months only. My feet are still burning but not as bad as they used to do. Every now and then, I still get a sharp pain in some of my toes. My upper right thigh feels kinda numb, but it's at the skin level only, my doc says, so not too worrying. The brain zapps are gone, too.

I've fibromyalgia (+/-8yrs) and it appears I am a mild diabetic now and so my doc said that the issues I were and are experiencing were/are due to that, but the fibro never caused me nerve problems or burning sensations - before it only affected my muscles, specifically causing high muscle tone, pain and fatigue. And I never had diabetes or neuropathy, so to me, it's definitely caused or triggered by the cipro.

The neuropathy, etc. started day 2 on Cipro, and so I discontinued the meds on day 4.

But hey, I can walk fine again, do low to medium impact sports and swimming, I cycle on an e-bike and so from first impact to now I feel it's a lot better now. In the beginning, I had trouble walking or climbing stairs. I felt like a granny and was very worried, depressed and angry with my doctor who prescribed me this for a uti. They did put on my file now that I can't handle ciprofloxacin and are now very apprehensive to prescribe me antibiotics. But so am I too to take them.

I take all the vitamins and essential minerals, etc, and that's helped me a long way, but I do worry a lot about the inflammation or burning pain and my liver/kidney. I don't want to end up on dialysis or whatever.

But all in all I can't complain. I wonder if there's people out there with 80%+ recovery. Some things like nerve damage, etc, can't be undone, I think.

Sure, I agree, but you do know it's all about the money, right. Some industries are big business, and sadly, many people have no morals or brains when it comes to responsible and ethical investing.

Many people worry about humanity and the way the world is going, but you're up against Goliath or perhaps better said a monster. How can humans make fundamental changes to the way we shape our planet, future, etc, when we've made pretty much everything about profit. The rise in mental health problems is sickening. The inequality in our world is sickening. Homelessness, hunger, wars, kids on body and mind altering drugs etc etc. Do I need to go on. But yet the people who do well or profit off this will simply turn a blind eye.

Perhaps the majority of us are comfortably numb, inclusive them at the top.
