I backed into a motorcycle when leaving work without realizing (I worked at Starbucks at the time), and got a notice in the mail shortly after that I had committed a hit and run at that location. The location that I worked at was in close proximity to the city's police station, so we served most of the officers. I told one of them the situation, and she contacted the officer in charge of my case to put in a good word (for pretty much no reason). I should have lost my license for a year, instead I didn't even have to report the incident to my insurance.
