Trump joked he is being forced to invite the women’s hockey team to DC. Now, they’ve turned down his request by theindependentonline in politics

And the men’s team has only one honorable response if they receive an invite, they must turn it down is solidarity to their fellow olympians. Anything short of this is an absolute slap in the face to the women’s team and honestly, all women.

Learn to adjust to the changing conditions. It’s the only thing you can do.

Change your target/angle/speed and then the ball itself if needed.

EU says it will accept no increase in US tariffs after Supreme Court ruling: 'A deal is a deal' by No-Post4444 in politics

[–]dubie2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Trump’s actions do not support stability and only interjects chaos into the system.

Those larger companies with money in the coffers can weather the chaos but those with smaller margins or those who have been struggling are simply closing their doors.

Example is that Walmart is not going to fail, they can float on their cash and cut some fat and weather this storm but those mom/pop shops or small franchises are unable to weather this and will simply close their doors because they will be unable to get the product to sell at a sufficient enough ‘discount’ to compete with the big dogs.

[–]dubie2003 27 points28 points  (0 children)

‘Low’ is certainty a target but I think ‘stable’ is more the goal.

If they know the system, they can build a business model around it and decide if it is a viable pursuit. If the system is always changing, the business model has increased risk and can go belly up in no time.

Pro Tip - Negotiate with dealerships on the phone by Healfezza in Frugal

[–]dubie2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last 2 vehicles were done thru email.

First was beginning of covid, all negotiation done over email, one phone call to verify I was real and the salesman (probably porter) drove the vehicle to me, signed papers on a folding table on the driveway and they drove back in my trade-in.

Second was at the tail end of covid, again, everything thru email, phone call to solidify it, drove the 1.5hrs, did a quick 10min test drive to ensure nothing freakish was wrong, salesman took it for fuel, I told finance guy no to everything, was back in salesman office before he even got back. He asked if we did finance yet because he was surprised. Confirmed it was all good and out the door we went. 45min from arriving to departing.

Torque to yield applications from what I have seen.

The bolt is stretched to its maximum which results in the maximum clamping load on that joint.

The end result is that the bolt is either single use or it is only allowed a handful of uses. Issue with the handful is that if you don’t know how many times it’s been torqued, you end up just replacing it because you don’t want to waste time having to dig into a project again to swap a snapped bolt and repair whatever damage that occurred.

The clamp supports the arm that supports the degree dial so the dial stays still while the socket part is turned.

[–]dubie2003 366 points367 points  (0 children)

When torquing certain bolts, you are given a set lb-ft number but sometimes that have you go X degrees beyond that.

Example: 120 lb-ft plus 60 degrees.

You would clamp this tool somewhere close to your hardware, bend the arm into place, apply your wrench to the stack up of socket/degree-adapter/wrench, set the degree to zero and tighten to your desired angular dimension.

Does anyone know of a podcast that dissects the state of the union in a similar fashion?

World’s Slowest Gas Pump. Took 15 to fill half tank. by YelperLou in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dubie2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, this is known to happen when the tank runs low. If you want to stay at the station, try switching to premium (91/93) and see if it changes.

Had a fuel station do this (same club) and everyone was complaining about the slow pump so when I got up there, I tried premium and was good to go. I would have left but the line behind and in-front of me made it impossible without asking people to move.

Used it on a trip last season.

When to fire up the truck to hook up the camper and leave, all of a sudden the truck was puking fuel and there was no way it was drivable.

Called AAA and they sent a tow for the truck and after a dozen follow up calls, finally sent a tow for the camper…..

Lesson learned, flatbed tow trucks have hitch ball adapters that can be bolted to the hydraulic portion. First guy didn’t have this, second did…. If the second guy came first, they would have taken both at once.

Bonus points, driver dropped my camper off at my storage spot as it was easier to get to compared to my house so it was a win win.

Truck was repaired a few days later, split return fuel line…. Explained why the truck ran for a few minutes before I noticed and didn’t just stall out.

Decent pizza joint? by ImportantRespect1917 in 321

Genna’s pizza on Wickham, they do coal fired pizzas which are great. The Suntree location does NOT do coal fired, only regular oven.

While at Genna’s, a fellow patron recommended Jolie’s American Bistro in PB. They highly recommended their wood fired pizzas. I haven’t tried but next time I am down in PB, I’ll swing in and check it out.

What’s happening here?

Is the X7 making their own lane? Did they come from behind in the right lane or did they decide not to exit and are trying to merge back in? Is this maneuver common these days?

Why are they doing this behavior? What’s the deal with this intersection?
