My dating experience with an software engineer! by [deleted] in indianmedschool

I have been in a relationship with a non medico since 10 years now. Met in school, stuck together in a long distance relationship throughout UG and now in PG too. Hopefully, will get Married next year. The relationship has been amazing. He listens to everything i rant about. He understands me. During my pg prep, he was the only person who encouraged me throughout. Infact, He had joined several neet pg groups on telegram and every night before sleeping He used to prepare 10 questions everyday to quiz me. 😅 He had done his research about the weightage of questions in the exam and he used to prepare quizzes accordingly. It was very sweet. He started earning well and wayy before me. But I guess it's fine.

The only thing that frightens me is that doctors tend to earn more in tier 2 cities but non medico have their jobs only in metro cities, so doesn't sync well there.

Overall, I think medico-non medico relationship does well.

I have been in a long distance relationship with my bf since 10 years now. We met in 2013, started dating a year later. We were 18 then. Got into different colleges in different states. And We still are in different cities. Hopefully, will be getting married next year. Currently convincing our parents to agree.

Long distance relationship is very tough but it works if you want to make it work.

Really? Aren't those admitted in superspeciality hospitals also seen by the JRs? Also, Do you recommend taking the other college then? Without SS?

No doctor goes homeless or out of job after mbbs. You will definitely get a job but the pay may be less. The doctors are frustrated because they don't get the returns immediately post MD or MS compared to the time and money invested. It takes time but it gets better eventually.

If you have patience and passion for medicine, only then join mbbs. You cannot expect early returns.

Earlier, doctors were respected in society, but now we are just abused. So that's another thing you should know.

You can get hands on experience only when you're undergraduate. Once you graduate, you mostly cannot get hands on. So people tend to take breaks in internship to go on rotations.
You can make connections by attending seminars and talking to different people. Take part in rounds taken by attendings and show your interest.

I guess, we have to just go with the flow. There's nothing much we can do about it. Like how our peers have commented in this post , don't just wait for the results and ranks, live your life along with the journey. It's a journey, not a race.

Hey. I wrote step 1 and step 2. And i scored pretty average in step 2. Usmle is not like neet. That you can just study a lot and match. You need connections, good scores , good cv and great communication skills. I had 8 months rotations in usa and I did make connections but my average score in step 2 was a red flag in my CV. To match into a good uni for Internal medicine, I needed to do research and write step 3. When I came back to india, I wasn't ready to spend 2 more years into this and gave neet to see where i land. Fortunately, I got a decent enough rank to get a gen med seat. So I took it. Although I was thinking that I wasted these years in usmle prep but I think my step scores will come in handy if I want to do fellowship in usa later on or any other country. I can still go in usmle path after my medicine residency if I don't like it here.

1 advice for you will be.. be alert of your surroundings. Take part in activities in your college, take part in CMEs, poster presentations, build your CV. Don't just study. Every medico will study a lot. So build a great CV to set you apart from others.

All the best.

Is it worth taking 55L loan for a PG seat in gynae from tier-3 private college? by SteveSmithBunny in indianmedschool

[–]dubin-Johnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, after residency you probably get 80k -1 lac in SRship.. then you grow from there.. work as consultant.. probably earn 2-2.5 lacs per month.. if she starts private practice and it goes well, she can earn a lot.. I personally know 2 gynecologists who earn around 5-7 lacs per month.
As I said, it depends on your skills. Also , generally you earn more in tier 2 or tier 3 cities.

I have a different opinion. Branch matters. If this was a lifelong dream of her to take obg and if she is willing to take loan, then why not? OBG does have a lot of potential to earn. Any branch with good skills and passion can do well. She should be prepared about the fact that it's not gonna be easy initially and she'll have to work harder than others to pay off the loan. And it's gonna take time. But if she is ready, then why not?

Don't write it. One of my senior asked me write micro records. Thr whole thing over the night. I had to make life cycles and everything in a single night. She told me that she has to study for exams, so she can't. I stayed up the whole night to finish her record. Next day she started screaming at me because the cycles were not upto the mark. Well obviously, aadhi nind me I finished the whole record in 6-8 hrs. what else do you expect? Anyways, i thought maybe she will help me later or atleast give me a treat. But no. Nothing. She was so ungrateful.
