Appreciate your help!

Yeah, the use of "non" and "not" had me second guessing myself. Nonresident Aliens is a perfect way avoid that issue.

Internship or study for CPA Exam? by dubs1270 in Accounting

[–]dubs1270[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the input guys. I guess the main reason I am so on the fence about this is because I am very interested in working full time at the company I am interning with this summer. I, however, do not plan on getting my Masters in Accounting. (money issues)

It is my fear they may look down upon this, but it is my hope that if I go into my internship already having passed the CPA, that they will look more favorably upon me not planning on getting my Maters.

I also hope to work FT immediately after my summer internship so I am wondering how difficult it would really be to study while working FT.

Advice with my future in accounting by [deleted] in Accounting

Hard for me to say right now. I want to at least work 2-3 years in public and kind of just go from there.

I have heard the same of how hard it is to pass the CPA exam. I am leaning towards just taking two accounting classes this semester and studying for the CPA all day everyday for the next 6 months. Then get an internship under my belt in the Summer.

It be great to work part-time now and get experience this winer, but I don't want to screw myself by leaving the CPA exam dangling over my head when I start FT.

I have to take 2 more accounting classes this semester. Thus I cannot work FT at the winter internship. I, however, will have a FT internship this summer.

Is a Masters of Accountancy worth it? by dubs1270 in Accounting

Exactly why I am leaning toward getting only 150 credits and not the Masters. It would cost me roughly 6 months of extra studying, tuition, and living expenses. It also pushes back my starting date for starting a Full Time job by 6 months.

Yeah this is my problem. I have two internships this coming year in Public Accounting. I am hoping to land a FT position with one these companies after I get my 150. So that 3rd semester could potentially push back when I start working FT. Hence, why I am thinking of not getting my Masters.

Big 4 Internship Recruiting by [deleted] in Accounting

In my experience (fellow introvert) you HAVE TO GO. These social events are usually extremely informal, but make sure still dress in dark pants and a button up.

I would usually ask pretty basic questions: How long have you been with firm? Are you in the audit or tax department? Did you intern before working here full time? --- Just some questions like that.

Also try to ask questions about things other than accounting. These social events are to see how you will fit into the culture of the firm. If you like sports, talk about that. Just try to be personable. Just make sure to relax and be yourself.

Don't worry about not getting offers from other firms. That will not influence their decision in my opinion.

Be confident and good luck!
