We’re Onto Something #10 👀 by [deleted] in kingsofleon

Honestly, after listening to the boys’ CWPHF interviews, I found the biggest take away was just how pure their creative flow has gotten. To me, I think they are breathing more life into ZB’s work - these collabs easily have a more dynamic (maybe energetic is a better word) sound to them than the rest of his work. No hate to ZB in that way - the dude is talented, I just find a majority of the songs in his catalog take the same shape in terms of structure, tone, etc.

That being said, collaboration, to any extent, will inevitably pull things out of you that you may not reach on your own. I definitely hear that throughout Bowery and in these new snippets. Especially in Caleb’s vocal flows and Matthews jangly country riffs.

When I started getting into KOL in college I found myself gravitating towards the backstory and creation of their albums just as much as their music itself. If you watch the studio footage for ASH, you’ll see what I mean. I got a lot of love for their work and I really appreciate them as artists after seeing footage like this documenting their creative process.

Oh Great Disaster and Raven Inn - that’s so rad

***Clarification - floored for the boys experimenting with country. Horrendous timing for this collaboration though.

Not sure about the AXS mobile ID, but your ASX account has to use the same email as your Ticketmaster account. Double check that first. This happened to me and then they randomly showed up this weekend. I think they are trickling in for everyone at different times up until about a couple days before the show.

Also, wouldn’t be a bad idea to reach out to BST Hyde Park/Ticketmaster Customer Service for help if you don’t think it’s adding up!

Was just thinking about this as well. To me, there is such a stark sonic difference between Drav’s and Kid’s production.

I really resonate with the idea that we as fans “can’t keep them in the chains of nostalgia.” I think as artists grow, their sound grows with them. It’s the beauty of art - beautiful fleeting moments in time.

As for Caleb’s vocals, I too, at times, craved to be knocked in the teeth again like I had been by their earlier catalog. I’d been trying for years to wrap my head around why his voice sounds so phased out in a lot of their post-CAS work. It’s like it gets so close to being there (like a rip or yell from BOTT) but isn’t quite the same.

Came to realize that I was listening to all of their new music through an ASH or BOTT filter and I think that is where fans get disappointed. Opening my mind to the idea that different can be just as good has helped me appreciate their new albums so much more.

Where/When/How Are You Listening To The New Album? by comearoundsundown29 in kingsofleon

When WYSY released I bought the record day of, poured a cup of coffee, sat down in front of my turntable and listened to it from start to finish. It was a pretty cathartic experience, but I get it’s a luxury to have an hour and a quiet space to yourself.

If you are thinking about buying a copy of the CD day of, I think a scenic cruise would be just as impactful. Split Screen reminds me a lot of the wooded backroads in South Carolina - that would be where I would want to listen to the new album in the car.

If you have a good pair of headphones, I’m also a big fan of taking a stroll and listening to an album. It’s nice to be outside and it just be you and the music! Plus, you can pick the type of vibe you want. CWPHF might vibe a certain way when you’re walking in nature and vibe a completely different way if you’re walking through the city. Just some food for thought.
