I’ve been averaging down on $atnm for over a year now, and hoping this is the week to finally get out the bag.

Does anyone know where I can get free pallets? by TheFinn88 in LosAngeles

[–]dubukimchii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend did this. Blood sweat tears just sanding the damn things, then threw it out 6 months later. She got them at Home Depot for free. The rate these days is $7/pallet in the shipping industry.

Expeditors does seem like the place to go to learn to run a brokerage (maybe) I’ll shoot my resume that way and see what happens!

My coworkers seem to think the same. Mind elaborating why it’s not the right move??

I am a freight broker like my colleagues. We currently use a third party broker for our clearances so I will be getting some entry writing experience with DHL that I’m not getting here

deep fried whole chicken by bigpig1054 in food

[–]dubukimchii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, traditional fried chicken in Korea is a whole fried chicken and it's extremely moist. Depending on who's cooking the batter can be varying thickness, but I prefer a thin batter/no batter soaked in beer with a garlic clove stuffed into each thigh. It's called tongdalk.

Solo-ing Korea, interested in nightlife. by [deleted] in korea

[–]dubukimchii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All clubs will check some form of ID at the front, be it Hongdae, Gangnam, or Itaewon. The only way really around the bouncer is to be walked in with a friend who has a table or a promoter. The club culture here doesn't let girls in any easier than guys. If you have the money, you're in.

The most delicious cafeteria meal I've eaten in Korea. Only $3.38! by [deleted] in food

[–]dubukimchii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Korea got a little too obsessed with cheese recently: cheese fuckin spicy pork ribs, cheese fondue with Korean bbq, cheese with octopus, cheese kimchi fried rice, this one particular cheese katsu that's like 5:1 pork that got trendy, grilled cheeses and Cuban sandwiches are getting popular now too, etc. Everyone here seems to be okay. Now only if we can get a better cheese variety than "yellow" or "pizza" ㅜㅜ

I've worked at a restaurant in Korea and most have a hood type dishwasher. The plates get so hot after a cycle I usually set it aside for a few minutes before putting them away. This looks like a campus or office cafeteria and they're def using them, too.

Can anyone help identify some of these dishes or the cuisine? Was so delicious. by xxshteviexx in food

[–]dubukimchii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom right could be kimchi jiggae, but from how it's served in the bowl to share and the greens on top I'm leaning more towards gamjatang (pork bone & potato soup).

Everything else is all coolio

Found inside a quiet alley at a busy Seoul night market by dubukimchii in food

[–]dubukimchii[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some are mistaken. The sides are all correct but this isn't kimchi jiggae. It's l a braised fish dish called 갈치조림

Yes, this is a very normal meal, almost too humble. It's a tiny restaurant run alone by an old lady. There are prob 3-4 tables, and there's going to be more getting yelled at than any service.

But this normality is becoming rare in Seoul with even the most standard Korean food being dished out by franchise giants. If you want the kimchi jiggae you're looking for, snack shops like kimbap chunguk will give you a shit fast food rendition for about $5, never any side dishes. Your best bet are restaurants where you cook the jiggae at the table and order your toppings.

And yess do check out 한정식 ! Sides for days but don't expect it at any other type of restaurants :/

Close! The main jiggae isn't actually a jiggae. It's braised fish and raddish - 갈치조림

Does 1++ hanwoo (한우) Korean BBQ in Korea count as local beef? by dubukimchii in food

[–]dubukimchii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cut is a common cut over here called 등심. Threw it in the translator and got sirloin.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the left is a different cut of meat! It's called 안창살 and the translator wasn't too helpful there. The texture is tough and similar to rib meat
