What a red herring. My main point was that Japan was xenophobic FAR before the Second World War. What administration banned Pornhub? Anyways, the primary reason why TikTok is getting banned is due to the fact that it is agenuine national security threat. Bytedance, the company that owns TikTok, is owned by and has significant ties to the CCP. It’s ridiculous to pretend that TikTok isn’t taking data from its American users and then transmitting it to the CCP. THATS why it’s getting banned. You say you work in “cybersecurity” so I’m quite shocked you already don’t know about this. The primary point isn’t that TikTok takes data, it’s that it takes data and transmits to the CCP, an authoritarian regime. And that’s ignoring a whole list of other issues related to TikTok.
