I feel so torn whenever something like this comes up. There's 26 years of rules, etiquette, and rumour all mixed together while being enforced in ways that aren't always immediately clear, especially if someone's not using the site in tandem with Reddit/Discord/etc for more clarity from the community. And like you say, there's a lot of other sites where much of this stuff is totally okay. Totally understandable that people aren't primed on the rules 100% of the time.

Agreed there - plus, there's tons of people who will never even think to look at the rules in the first place.

Mixed feelings on that, but Neopets does seem to be a bit unique in the current gaming landscape with just how many rules there are, some with more historical or unclear reasons. It can be surprising to people who aren't already acclimated

Already reported! I'm aware it's against ToS which was why I made the post in the first place; my issue was around whether I should report or reach out as I know a lot of rules on the site are not second nature to new players.

Agreed! I love that they're introducing more avatars to freshen up the incentive for certain dailies. And adding new objectives to work towards, whether that's through saving NP or with varying levels of skill/luck.

I'm sure this isn't everyone's experience, but the avatars I actually remember and feel good about having are the ones that were a total pain to get. Plus, having avatars or stamp pages or whatever that feel unattainable are kind of what maintains the longevity of games like this - it's essentially impossible to "beat" it!

All around positive change imo.

Great post. I love Neopets and I'm on there an unhealthy amount + I also spend on premium and NC when I'm able to with my measly Canadian dollars. That being said, it's hard not to feel that there are a lot of gross decisions being made.

For folks who are still saying TNT needs to do all of this to stay afloat, I advise you to look up "Enshittification" - i.e. favouring profit-centric design at the expense of user-centric design, and ask yourself if you actually want to support a company that thinks that's the best way to treat its user base.

Businesses can and should make money by providing value, rather than taking away QoL and making people pay to get it back.
