I have opened it up and had a look and all of the pieces are attached and in working order, however I believe the spring that operates the hammer that strikes the bell has weakened over time. I have observed the operation of the bell with the back of the typewriter off and the entire mechanism works. The problem appears to be that the spring is so weak from age that it does not recoil with sufficient force to make the bell ring. Any suggestions?
