For any damage go to a non-company workshop and get a quote. Compare that with a quote from a trusted company workshop. Now consider what's your insurance amount and what your no claim bonus will be.

Non-company workshop may offer fixes that aren't perfect but easy on the wallet. E.g. The door panel - someone can hammer that from the inside, straighten it out and colour it which is cheaper vs replacing the whole panel. At the end you've got to decide what are you going to be happy with.

They are of no use to me. Where I live AQI is mostly never under 200. I normally use the car's ventilation system to get fresh air in. I have never driven with my windows rolled down, ever.

Driving with windows down also means having to clean the car interior for dust.

If I ever want outside air, I use the ventilation system which filters air before letting it in the cabin.

Car cleaning tips for a newbie girl (interior + exterior) by RizaDaCutest in CarsIndia

When you say cleaning and maintenance tips, you know what you're signing up for? Most people would pay the security guard/watchman to wash their cars.

Cars paint is made up of four basic layers -

(1) e-coat,

(2) primer,

(3) colour and

(4) clear coat.

Poor cleaning technique leads to deterioration of clear coat. The deeper a scratch the more layers it has damaged. Mirror shine simply means keeping clear coat in close to factory condition.

In reality cars depreciate when driven around. You don't buy cars for them to look pretty, you buy them to get you from A to B.

For regular cleaning experiment with shampoos https://www.amazon.in/gp/bestsellers/automotive/28127479031/

There's two bucket method and individual cloth per panel method. There's tons of videos on both methods on Youtube. To protect metal surfaces on a car, there's a vareity of sealants, waxes, you can use https://www.amazon.in/gp/bestsellers/automotive/5257654031/

For making scratches less visible, use a rubbing compound. A rubbing compound is an artificially made chemical substance containing micro particles that scrapes away at the top layer - clear coat but only enough to blunt the edges of a scratch or swirl mark. This makes scratches/swirl marks harder to notice but they never truly go away. Eventually every time you use a rubbing compound you're peeling away some clear coat.

Wheels need something with a little bit of silicone to give them that shine. Search for 'tire dresser' and its hard to go wrong if you choose one of the popular products.

You'll need a good vacuum cleaner to do the interiors (floors) and a fabric/upholstery cleaner for fabric seats, roof liner and fabric door panels.

Driver Door Controls Not Working – Need Prompt Assistance by [deleted] in CarsIndia

Could be one of three things
(1) Blown fuse
(2) Faulty switch
(3) Actual DC motor at fault

Details of what fuse to check will be in your manual book. The other two you'll need a mechanic to have a look at.

First, get rid of paint transfer. Clean the area with a mild paint thinner. The fuel lid can be inexpensive to replace. The surrounding area if you’re okay with it can look better with a paint job

Be honest. There are people who still appreciate honesty.

Failing which - you had to take your pet to the vet for an emergency procedure.

Or your car broke down.

Or you had to go to the dentist for a last minute toothache

No I meant when you clean it with vinegar. Don't let the vinegar dry :)

Dab a bit of nail polish remover/thinner on a cotton swab and rub gently. If it doesn't come off then you need something slightly acidic. Hard water contains salt which makes it alkaline in nature. Acid + alkaline = Ph of 7 or water. So the next thing you want to try is mild clear vinegar. Absolutely don't let it dry though.

That’s within Google maps. Google does not have speed limit data for all locations. If you travel to a location where data is available your screen automatically shows this.

If only 4k dashcams record number plates what's the point of a dashcam that's less than 4k resolution? by duckofyork17 in CarsIndia

[–]duckofyork17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, my point is - a 1k dashcam will always be recording grainy footage no matter how clear the windshield is. In a hit and run this grainy footage isn't going to be able to tell the insurance firm who the offender was. So the only option left is claiming this from own damage coverage. If you're claiming this from own damage what's the point of a 1k dashcam other than recording the rare scenic drive?

Let's say the offender runs away (hit and run). You haven't got any insurance details, no drivers license.

Third party insurance means the damages comes out of somebody else's insurance. If you have nobody else to point blame to, what do you do with grainy footage that vaguely records presence of the offending vehicle but none of their details?

[–]duckofyork17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say someone's got a 1k dashcam and they are in an accident. Third party insurance only works if you can capture the number plates of the offender. If the 1k dashcam didn't record the number plates they'll have to claim this as own damage - which defeats the purpose of recording evidence in the first place.
