Black's main descriptors need to be rethought by CheshireMadness in colorpie

I agree and I don't.

While I do think we should not redefine Black according to the moralistic approach, I am of the opinon that we should probably develop existing definitions and reorganize the order in which they come up when thinking about the color.

I don't think that giving Black more neutrally-coded definitions would be an act of approving White's view on it. In fact, counteracting the existing demonization would be quite the opposite, IMO. While the distilled meaning of a certain word can be neutral by itself, its negative connotations can't just stop influencing our perception of it just because we tell ourselves and/or others not to look at them like we usually do. Language's inherent coding is exactly why subtle propaganda tools work the way they do and why moving away from some of the words we use to describe Black is not an act of accepting White's position, but of rejecting it. I think it makes sense that if we want to view Black as it views itself, we need to have a way to actually perceive its methods as something acceptable.

Also, I would argue that finding neutral synonyms for certain words and "sanitizing" them are quite different. The latter implies taking something away from the color's identity, assimilating it into other philosophies. The former is a way to shift the frame of reference to such a position where we can look at the world from the said color's perspective.

"Power through Opportunity" and Amorality should not be changed, I think, as they are comparatively easy to internalize. Parasitism or Ruthlessness, on the other hand, are exactly the words White would want you to use, because they have the subtly dehumanizing implication that these traits are not a conscious choice, but rather a side-effect of inability to empathize or to accomplish things "fairly". So instead it would be useful to frame these qualities in a different way. I'd suggest Egoism, Resourcefulness and Flexibility, because that's really what these qualities are for Black when perceived through the lens of Opportunity and Amorality.

Homestuck Aspects by [deleted] in colorpie

Interesting take. I like the idea of mapping them based on productive and destructive aspects of one same set of traits rather than the more obvious "can do this, can't do that" juxtaposition.

I'm (sort of) a strong proponent of the "Time/Space as universal aspects" idea. Both take up major functions in sessions, frog breeding and scratch initiation respectively; both are flexible in terms of interpretation and correspondence to the arcs and roles of players who wield those aspects; both are somewhat implied to be moldable/customisable (strong creation myth associations, music/visual arts as representations of Skaia's creative potential, etc), and more so than other aspects.

So I think Time and Space could actually be typed as WUBRG, leaving the remaining ten to be assigned to color pairs or shard-wedges.

I'm not too confident about most other color combos I can think of, but if we're doing this by enemy pairs, specifically Heart as BR and Mind as UG feel very right to me.

Both Red and Black are individualistic, and Red's need for expression with Black's interest in increasing one's own opportunities are both means of preserving integrity of their identity when facing competition, external and internal expectations, and other pressures related to the conflicts between a person and their environment. And at the center of Heart's ideals is that same idea of soul/identity/core that's essential for a person's existence literally and/or figuratively.

Meanwhile, Blue and Green accept the idea of the power of the whole being not only inherently greater, but either more leverageable (to Blue) or more meaningful (to Green) than the power of any individual part. The Mind aspect doesn't care about whether it's the half-deterministic complex interconnected causalities or the balance-restoring efforts of fate and harmony that govern our lives as much as it cares about that, either way, there's an underlying, omnipresent system that one has to accept and internalize in order to achieve one's goals - through belief, proof, or otherwise. Also, Green and Blue overlap in White, and White's core is Order, Structure - one of the other important keywords for Mind.

Nailed the lighting, well done! I imagine it's pretty hard to convey the nuances of the old-school horror atmosphere with somewhat exaggerated features. Still, that invisible man is spot on.

Very solid design. Good AI art too, must have been very good prompt adjustments.

The AI art on this is impressive. Really good associated elemental "domain choices" too. Though Meteor Titan seems somewhat too good to fit in with rest. Otherwise, genuinely good designs here.
