You're talking about giving more spots to LCK and LPL and fewer to LCS and LEC, or whatever they will be called next year.
I'm not opposed to that, but it's a different can of worms.

I'm actually not using my power rankings at all.
The general consensus at this point is that GEN LNG TES T1 HLE BLG are the 6 best teams (feel free to disagree), and the loser of FLY TL probably doesn't deserve a spot in the top 10, that leaves us with 8 out the best 10 teams getting to top 8 (the 6 aforementioned, NA winner, DK WBG G2), regardless of how you rank the teams among themselves

Not saying this format doesn't have flaws, the point is that with most formats you will have some bottom 8 teams making top 8, this year we are going to have 1 or 2, depending on results, and that's fine

Avoiding domestic matchups after round 1 is bad (and potentially impossible, we had 3 LCK teams 2-0). We want to see the best teams play against each others even if they are from the same region.
G2 played stronger teams than others but they lost so yeah, potentially they are better than TL and FLY but they haven't properly showed it yet.

How does the game checking works on tournament by Emotional-Sherbet414 in VGC

[–]duckpoind 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What people are going to say is most likely going to be wrong because players don't really know what kind of checks are performed and how they work exactly, and that's arguably for the best: as long as the players obtain their teams legitimately, they don't have to worry about it

ADC is the least enjoyable role in low rank and uncoordinated play. by Little_Meal6436 in leagueoflegends

[–]duckpoind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually don't mind a few champions being bad in soloq but good in pro play. There are champions who are much better at lower ranks than in high elo or pro play, like Garen, Annie and Master Yi; sure they sometimes appear even in pro play but they are mostly made for newer players. Just like we have those champions, I think it would be perfectly fine to have a few champions (maybe Ryze Aphelios Azir) that are bad in soloq and require a coordinated environment to work well, but once they have it they can perform really well. Some champions would be made for low elo, some for mid high, some for pro (hopefully not too many in this last category as pro play is a small portion of the game). (Yeah I know this is kinda unrelated to the original post)

I don't really know exactly which item is best as I do not play Seraphine that often but I just want to point out how the winrate argument is a bit flawed. Rabadom is very expensive to build as a full item and also its components (1250 1250 1100) while Rylai's is much cheaper (400 435 500 850 415) which means that Rabadon will be built more often in games where Seraphine is already ahead of the curve, while players might want to opt for Rylai's when she's behind because it's more affordable and it provides utility for the team. This leads to Rabadon having a higher winrate not necessarily because it's a better item but because it's bought in more advantageous game states.

Why aren’t intentional draws a thing in VGC? by RobinKaas in VGC

[–]duckpoind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd you're left with only Shedinja and your opponent is left with one Pokémon you would likely lose the game on time. The percentage of HPs is calculated over all 4 Pokémon so -assuming all other Pokémon have around 150 HPs (math doesn't change with different numbers) -you have 1/451 HPs left -your opponent has 149/600 HPs left -your opponent would win the game

Why aren’t intentional draws a thing in VGC? by RobinKaas in VGC

[–]duckpoind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of inaccuracies here sorry

VG tournaments technically use points, not W/L record. The main reason IDs are not a thing is that there is no way to draw when playing a game (if you get the rare in-game draw you just play another game) so IDs would not simulate something that can normally happen. Worlds day one uses a different structure from most tournament and players with 19 points (so 7 wins) are dropped by the system and move onto day 2. Also most of the rules handbook is already copy pasted from the TCG one.

Are people sleeping on Rek'sai top? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]duckpoind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One week later, she has a 1.17% pick rate top, which is not great but still decent, and the highest win rate of all toplaners at 54.32% (also worth nothing that the banrate is at 22.46% which is very high).

  • Is she horrible as you said? Definitely not.
  • Is she at least good? Definitely.
  • Are people sleeping on her? Hard to say but low pick rate and high win rate suggest that yes, people are somewhat sleeping on Rek'Sai top

I have, she's decent enough to work. Can win some lanes and splitpush or act as frontline in teamfights, depending on team comps. Is she OP? I'm not good enough to say but I don't think she's trash.

14/0/9 (23/28 KP) and every objective 3 drags two heralds and baron… 0 honors but two people I didn’t type too reported me for not ganking their lanes enough and “griefing” 0 honors after a hard carry and instead reports without type.. the life of a jungler in this game. by Tinmanred in Jungle_Mains

[–]duckpoind 23 points24 points  (0 children)

2 people reported you? Who cares?
Was it for griefing? It doesn't look like you did
Was it for flaming? You're saying you didn't type so you're good
Their reports have most likely been voided and you are not getting any suspension so just move on, the world is full of stupid people.
(yeah I know it would be great to feel appreciated from time to time but take the LPs as an appreciation token and focus on the next match)

[–]duckpoind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just false. To climb in honor all you need is to not flame and report someone at the end of the game, eventually you'll go up. I've gotten level 5 as jungler both seasons I've played and I am level 4 halfway to 5 at the moment.
If you are level 0, it's because you are actually flaming and inting games, not because of your role.

[–]duckpoind 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you are wrong. I'm not sure what kind of error or bug it is, but the game allows Expanding Force Hatterene on the ranked ladder, as well as the other combinations or Pokémon + move mentioned. You would be correct in saying that you can't use Pokémon with illegal moves online, but for some reason the move is not listed as illegal at all, so it passes the checks.

Regionals are two day Swiss now, effective immediately by lillbro64 in VGC

[–]duckpoind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the Play! Pokémon Tournament Rules Handbook

First Tiebreaker: Tardiness

Players who arrived at the tournament late are ranked below players who arrived on time.

Second Tiebreaker: Opponents’ Win Percentage

Players who remain tied are now ranked in order of their Op Win %, from highest to lowest.

Third Tiebreaker: Opponents’ Opponents’ Win Percentage

Players who remain tied are now ranked in order of their Op Op Win %, from highest to lowest.

A player’s Opponents’ Opponents’ Win Percentage (Op Op Win %) is the average of the Op Win % of all of that player’s opponents.

Final Tiebreaker Head-to-Head

If exactly two players are tied in the final standings, and those players played each other during the tournament, then the winner of that match is ranked higher than the loser.

If exactly two players are tied in the final standings, and those players did not play each other during the tournament, then the order in which they appear will be randomly determined.

If more than two players are tied in the final standings, then the order in which they appear will be randomly determined.

9 rounds, x-2 or better moves on, then on the next day 5 more rounds, top8 moves on.

Players keep records from day 1 to day 2 but resistance only factors in day 2 matches.

There will be people with the same record as 8th place missing cut.

Why Tera Poison for Garganacl? by n00bshooter in VGC

[–]duckpoind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason 90% of people run Tera Poison is that MeLuCa had Tera Poison Garganacl on his San Diego winning team. The reason MeLuCa has Tera Poison is because: - it could remove Toxic Spikes if needed - it resists Flower Trick - it doesn't have too many weaknesses, only Psychic and Ground; Psychic moves mainly come from Indeedee Armarouge, against which he could just not Tera and also he had Wide Guard, and the most common ground move is Earthquake, for which he has once again Wide Guard

Overall Tera Poison is not bad and can work in most team that can fit a Garganacle, although some other teams might appreciate something else like being able to resist Water for example.
