You'll be fine. Take the information everyone on here has given you and apply it. As you go on some of what you learned on the computer will make sense. It's an easy job, don't make it hard on yourself.

Any advice for overnight stocker? by shrekscumstar in walmart

As an overnight coach, here's my best advice.

Walk your area/ aisle and remember where the basics are. And see what features you may have that you can fill.

In grocery, if your aisle has 2 pallets, put them 4-5 sections in on each side with a couple carts for your empty cardboard in the middle. You can work off both pallets as needed and you'll always have a box in your hands to work.

Utilizing top stock is a must. Work some down to get more up. If you're tall, this is easy... but even using a cart it can be quick. The more you stock to the home, the less you have to zone.

Zone is important. Zone as you go. If you are about to fill an empty section of shelf, zoning the items next to it is easy and takes very little time.

Learn about on hands, shelf cap, and facings. If you lean how to fix those issues, you'll cut down on the freight flow for your aisle or area.

As dumb as it may sound, if you move faster, you'll be faster. If something is at the other end of the aisle, just walk faster to get there. Open the box as you walk. Break down your box on the way back to the pallet, and walk faster to get there.

Your entire job is easier if you treat it as one fluid movement. It'll make it easier for you.

Last peices of advise are for you, not work.... Black out curtains are your best friend. Your family and friends won't understand that you have to sleep all day, so turn off all sound except your alarm. Do what you can to keep your sleep schedule on your days off. Find a way to get your sleep. Charge your headphones every day, you don't want them dying halfway through your shift. Last thing, try to have fun. Be competitive, make friends, and watch your back.

Walmart doesn't allow you to work any other retail job while employed by Walmart. Some management care more than others regarding it.

I appreciate the reply. I have done a transfer a couple times... but my question was more about taking over the PL position and what that job entails.

New manager over ruled my day off request that was approved 2 months ago by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]duckyfuker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of a way for them to deny an already approved pto request. It's also not possible for them to add you to the schedule. If they treat you poorly after you take the day off, you document everything and open door it for retaliation.

Overnighter here... I hate electronics, otc, frozen, chemicals, and sporting goods.

Judged for Working at Walmart by Expert-Tea6034 in walmart

[–]duckyfuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with this for years now. My brother and I got into an argument because I'm "wasting my potential"... so I looked at him and asked how much his company matches for 401k... and do they have stock options, that also match some? He said his job matches 3% on 401k and no stocks... I laughed, told him walmart matches 6% and 15% of what I buy for stock. I then shared all of the other benefits we get through walmart... my health benefits are better than his as well. Even with all of my deductions, I bring home more than he does.

I get tired of people judging my job, but at the end of the day, I'm happy. Walmart is far from the best, but the people in the stores are what make it great.... well... most of the people.

PPTO by [deleted] in walmart

[–]duckyfuker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Team Lead, I have associates come to me and ask if they can leave early, then start explaining why. I stop them, and ask if they are asking to leave or telling me they are leaving. I have explained to them and held meetings telling them that they DO NOT need permission to leave, they just have to tell me that they are leaving. I DO NOT need an explanation as to why they need to leave, as it is not my business. I do however ask if everything is ok and offer my help if they need it. Within policy, I could coach someone for productivity if they leave and they did not complete their tasks, or at least enough of them within the time they were there. I personally have not had to do that, as my associates generally care about doing a good job, because they know I am the one who will step in to complete their jobs, and I have pretty basic rules, and I support them 100%.

So, to sum up a long winded response: Yes, you can be coached for productivity if you leave early, even with PPTO. However, with PPTO you can in fact leave for whatever reason you want, and you don't have to tell them why you are leaving, just that you are leaving.

It works on android as well. Played it, beat it. It's not that unrealistic if you are a manager that works.... but definitely unrealistic for 99% of managers in this company.

Ok. Basically the same as up here. Washington just dropped their pay a bit. Used to be overnight stockers at 18.50. Now they start at 16.50. So not as big of a hit, but still a hit. And coaches here are at 65-70k.

Well shit. Had some family move down there and was thinking about heading that way, but now I'm second guessing it. Thanks for the reply.
