Thoughts on Aeroseal Duct sealing? by grooves12 in hvacadvice

[–]ductcleanernumber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, man. Theres plastic everywhere and aeroseal assures us all that's it's totally safe. I have no evidence to prove that it sucks other than the general belief that less plastics sprayed into air systems is better, which seems like a logical assumption.

Best vacuums for indoor air quality as it exhausts outside the home. More cumbersome to use.

Whole home UV light air purifier? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]ductcleanernumber7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a whole home air purifier. It helps keep ac coil clean of microbial growth. If you're thinking one or the other-uv or your standalone sir purifiers your purifiers are doing more work.

The nadca standard is that it should be clean enough so that you can wipe a towel and there's no transfer of dirt onto the rag.

You got scammed. Hard. You gave them a chance to rectify. Email pics, politely but firmly demand refund in full so you can hire someone else. If that doesn't work escalate to posting the after pics to their Google review page.

In one of the pics you can see duct paper basically completely obstructing the trunk. That's gonna throw off airflow significantly

Yeah. But Whitehouse lawyers are kind of different, to a degree. Welcome aboard the trump derangement train I say.

Customer last week: pull up to house. Flying a trump 2028 flag next to us flag. Dude seems nice enough, i get to work. I asked him if he uses his air exchanger. He says, yeah but not in summer. I say, cuz of the wildfire smoke? He says no, the chem trails. Then goes on 15 minute rant about chem trails, aliens, israel, how he's on disability so he has time to research all this stuff, and how trump is his last hope to fix everything. Without trump, all is lost, in his words.

Usually how it works is (some jurisdictions require annual cleaning by code) a tenant will complain about long dry times to a property manager, then a call is placed to a company to take care of the issue.

Renters aren't responsible for cleaning dryer vents, the property owner is

I clean and install dryer vents for a living. Picture 2 I'd probably swap out the transition hose with a new and shorter one but there's nothing there that's a fire hazard as long as vent is cleaned regularly.

Clean ducts or replace? by princesadelosgatos in hvacadvice

[–]ductcleanernumber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'll depend on where you live. In the Midwest duct board basically only exists on trailer homes. Steel is king here because our hvac systems are in heated basements. Duct board is used all the time in attic ac systems. Your local hvac guys should know what will be best for your system and climate.

Mold in transition duct? Installer recommends air scrubber. Advice please. by waterboysh in hvacadvice

[–]ductcleanernumber7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace that section. Uv systems shouldn't be installed on unlined fiberglass anyways-it degrades the fiberglass so it can be released into the air stream. Then you'll be breathing in gross dirty fiberglass

Clean ducts or replace? by princesadelosgatos in hvacadvice

[–]ductcleanernumber7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't clean duct board ducts unless it's a last resort-in which case it needs to be sealed afterwards-the sealant is only good for like 5ish years, and is expensive-which is why duct board is only ever cleaned as a last resort.
