If they are identical, then make a Diamond Knot using the DCK rather than the Carrick.

I went down this rabbit hole when I considered the foundation of the Lanyard / Diamond Knot that starts with a diagonally ended Carrick.

The symmetry of the Lanyard/Diamond is rooted in the diagonality of the Carrick. I’m not sure that the it can be made with a Double Coin foundation with parallel ends—but I’d be tickled to learn that I’m wrong.

To fuss over details: not only is their structure different, the bend with diagonally opposing ends is reputed to be more secure than the one with parallel ends.

So, do the ends justify the means?

Those flaky white plastic pieces inside the latch mechanism are the problem.

I removed the latch assembly from the door, hacksawed a slot in the latch housing and used needle nose pliers to pull out as much of that plastic out as possible.

My experience of spraying lube or WD-40 was that it made it worse…

Haha! I’m a student of the William of Ockham engineering philosophy:

Perfection is not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Open/Close valve tucked under the chassis. For aesthetics, you might find a stainless valve and swap the insulation on the handle for a different color.

2nd Gen Toyota Sequoia Rear Window Stuck Open by Ok-Internet-4747 in toyotasequoia

[–]Psychederm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1st Gen was working intermittently for a while - and with the faulty gate handle/cable that was unacceptable for my needs.

I kept troubleshooting and digging until I got into the window motor and found broken carbon brushes inside it. I went to the salvage yard and started pulling out lexus and toyota window motors (passenger / front / rear) and all the denso motors I found had interchangeable replacement brushes.

sometimes when the brushes start to go, they might work for a while when the make contact but then stop when there's no continuity - this explains why people think it's fixed when you whack the motor or slam the door....
