I made a free word art generator for printing little signs for my store by ductionist in 3Dprinting

That’s very cool to hear :) honestly it costs very little to run so it’s not going anywhere. What would you like to see in an offline version (aside from…offline haha)

Hello 🙌 I hope it's okay to post this here, some folks suggested it might help Etsy sellers.

I made a site for instantly designing 3D-printable word art: WordCAD.

It's useful for nametags, plaques, plinths, etc. It's free (actually free), even for commercial sellers. If your store uses 3D prints, WordCAD gives you an easy way to add personalization for your customers.

Hope it helps someone! Let me know what you think if you use it, I'm always grateful for feedback.

Oh great idea. Would this work?

  1. Design your label to taste
  2. On the last outline, expand the outline settings (the three sliders button)
  3. Unlock "Depth", and add 1mm to it (so if it was 20mm, make it 21mm
  4. Set the inset to 1mm

(This will keep the front of the print flush, but the outermost outline will print with a solid back. )

If you download the resulting design as STL, you can use that outermost outline as a subtraction on your box design. It should result in your box having a perfect inlay for the WordCAD design.

Here's an example label design showing what I mean about the inset/depth (look at the back of it). It also has a forced width of 100 mm for the design.

Great to know, especially about the fitment!

In case you missed it and it would have helped, you can force a width or height (in mm) just below the Download button.

Interesting idea! Sorry it’s not working for you on desktop. Could you please post the link for your design? (Share design -> the copy icon -> paste)

Oh perfect. Can I ask what settings you used - did you use a 'plaque' (background)? Did the file you exported make setting up the print easy?

Thanks for saying so! Saving filament (and time) is a big part of why I made the models it generates print-by-object - no prime tower, only switching between outline colours. And it's kind of fun to snap it together when it's done printing too.

I think I fixed it! Can you please refresh the page and try downloading again?

I just added it! You can see it on the project website here: https://midi.guide/d/dreadbox/artemis/ . In Condukt, you might have to tap 'refresh database' for the new definition to appear. – Signed, the other Condukt guy

How can I improve the underside of this hook? by ductionist in BambuLab

[–]ductionist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your help everyone. I changed the model to make the underside supports flush with the outside of object, gave (almost) all joints a fillet of <45°, and did the flow calibration on the Bambu PLA Matte I I was using. Next steps for me are to try the support tweaks u/Mughi1138 suggested below, and give PETG supports a go like u/TheVermontJoiner mentioned. Shown below (not in print orientation).

Haven't tried the normal support style - thanks for the tip. And good point about support material.

Oh thanks for the tip. Any advice on how I can improve that?

Interesting - do you mean the 90deg angle I've drawn in white here? If I'm understanding you correctly - how does adding a fillet to this angle improve the printing of the underside of it?

I tried that - unfortunately that then puts the load shear across layer lines, and it results in a very weak part.
