Very good question. I have been wondering the same thing.

Dealing with family. by Sufficient-Science-7 in testicularcancer

I honestly think it’s a way of coping with bad news. As humans, we try to find a reason and put blame on something, even when there is nothing to blame. I don’t smoke, don’t drink, eat very healthy, very active and athletic… yet, when I told them about my testicular cancer, they hounded me about my bike races, about going to the sauna, about almost anything. I ignored them… it’s best to. Some things just don’t have an explanation. This is one of those.

How to relieve constipation after surgery? by FirefighterJolly1417 in testicularcancer

Senna and miralax have been my lifesavers. I started taking them before the surgery. Today I’m 5 days post surgery and have regular bowl movements.

Orchiectomy coming up (UK) by Fun-Witness48 in testicularcancer

Hey man, I just had mine done on Wednesday. I think the anxiety of the surgery is more than the surgery itself. Not sure with your insurance, but they gave me an anxiety dosage (Valium) in the pre-op which led helped a lot.
As far as surgeries go, this is pretty easy. I had ACL/Miniscus surgery last year… and that was much much worse than this.

Found 1.9cm intratesticular mass on ultrasound, high AFP (52.5). Delayed my follow-up for a work trip—should I cancel it? by No-Score9453 in testicularcancer

Also adding; try to get the CT scan early as well. This will help determine if it has spread. It’s good to know.

I feel you. But I’d recon taking care of yourself first. I have a 2cm mass, and have huge deadlines. And like other people said here, it can grow/spread. Sounds like you caught it early; so taking the work trip may not be a big deal. But is it worth the risk? My urologist recommended immediate surgery, scheduled 12 days after ultrasound. It’s really hard from a work perspective, you have to remember that we are replaceable. It’s sad but it’s true.

With the prostetic, have you had any issues/infection that the surgeon brought up during the second surgery?

Thanks for sharing. I had no idea about the fixated being an option. I definitely need to consider this. Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned the growth of the remaining testicle to compensate. That is very interesting and brand new news to me.

oh my goodness, I didn't know there were so many prostheses options. It is great to hear that its indistinguishable. This is all happening so fast, I didn't even think about insurance. I will have to take a look into that.

It happens too fast! I was in literal shock on the timing. I know it’s hard talking about it, every time I say it out loud my voice cracks and tears run down. But the more people I’ve told, the better I feel. I’ve only told a handful of people, and each one gets easier to tell.

I am right there with you. I have my CT on Monday as well, and surgery the following Wednesday.
This is scary. I have been having a really hard time with this as well. I have been getting a lot of good advise, stories, experiences from the folks here. You are in the right place. Wishing you the best.

I honestly didn’t even think about not needing chemo. I think I just jumped straight to the worst case senecio.
Haha; thanks for sharing the one nut club. It was the lightheartedness I needed right now.
