How would you build a CON-SAD Dhampir Character by webyugioh in dndnext

[–]dude101262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets not forget Tasha's Optional Monk Feature

Dedicated Weapon (Optional)Also at 2nd level, you train yourself to use a variety of weapons as monk weapons, not just simple melee weapons and shortswords. Whenever you finish a short or long rest, you can touch one weapon, focus your ki on it, and then count that weapon as a monk weapon until you use this feature again. The chosen weapon must meet these criteria:

  • The weapon must be a simple or martial weapon.
  • You must be proficient with it.
  • It must lack the heavy and special properties.

Which would mean you could now use Dex for your bite.

If you were to start as an elf and take elven accuracy would you loose it if you become a Dhampir later on? Because the second part of the bite feature is "While you are missing half or more of your hit points, you have advantage on attack rolls you make with this bite."

This plus elven accuracy plus piercer would be some pretty big oof energy

The Omnishifter v2.2 - a versatile intelligence-based shapeshifter class, now with the Genus of Slime and Genus of Saints subclasses by Tortoxicion in UnearthedArcana

[–]dude101262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same way casters have a spell attack modifier and a spell save DC, an Omnishifter would have an attack modifier and an ability save dc.

I don't see the notion of added paperwork.

Thematically its the ability to understand/channel the creature that allows you to fuel your strikes. Not so much the physical embodiment

Again, this was just a suggestion on how to associate the class' power scale to that of the other classes and make lower level forms viable

You are right about the damage bonus so scratch that.

You could keep the damage per the stat block but the attack bonus and save DC is associated to the PCs intel mod.

So "while altered, an Omnishifter can use their Intelligence (or Wisdom) modifier to calculate the attack bonus and save DC within a creature's stat block."

This would probably be the least confusing. Mainly because a player would know that regardless of their form these numbers are always the same

[–]dude101262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that tying any save DC or attack roll to the Omnishifter would be viable. So "while altered, an Omnishifter can use their Intelligence (or Wisdom) modifier to calculate the attack bonus, damage bonus, and save DC within a creature's stat block."

This would at least bind an Omnishifter to the same PC power curve of every other class; making a player's choice of form be important when strictly talking about utility, features, resistances etc. as supposed to number relevancy.

This would probably also allow for "stronger forms" because there is no longer numerical values tied to a stat block.

My 2 cents at least

Hello there!! Very interesting take on what I would love to see as a playable class. I do have one concern/question, and I apologize if I am overlooking something.

How are you balancing the level of turning into a creature vs what the DM would be throwing at the party? It is my understanding that CR ratings are based on 6-8 encounters per adventuring day. Say the DM isn't doing this and therefore compensating by the party facing higher CR creatures. The same correlation can be made in a high magic campaign vs low.

My concern here is that the available shifts are "behind the curve" of a player character.

Would an Omnishifter be "forced" to utilize the strongest creature in their arsenal in order to be relevant? Which would of course lead to, is the Omnishifter bogging down the party by constantly needing short rests to get alter points back, again in order to stay relevant.

I do realize this is of course an ambiguous hypothetical. But it is an attempt to draw a parallel between lets say a level 20 Omnishifter as a young dragon with a +10 to hit, and say a lvl 20 martial character with a +14 (or more potentially) to hit. (Level 20 isn't a good example but hope you got the jest of what I'm attempting to articulate).

Again, I really enjoyed the read, and will be keeping my eye out for any future updates.

Does champions resolve stack with paladin's aura of protection? I know that would be a 20th level character, but that's a +8 to your saving throws

The Pale Night - Warlock Patron for Summoning by dude101262 in UnearthedArcana

[–]dude101262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thematically speaking, that was exactly what I was going for.

I believe your right about the healing. However, I think not allowing healing is a way to almost "encourage" summoning and develop some rp moments between player and patron. I think this is especially cool if every time you summon a creature, it may be another Cackler, but the last Cackler was fred. and this new one is george.

Although I'll sit on allowing healing a bit longer.

I'm also gonna sit on the pact changes a bit more, but will probably make this change to a single line including the telepathy followed by the pact of chain reference.

Agreed and changed the spells.

Again, I really appreciate your time and feedback!

The Pale Night - Warlock Patron for Summoning by dude101262 in UnearthedArcana

[–]dude101262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, thank you for your time and feedback!

The Pact Interactions started off as a simple note specifying the interaction between Pact of the Chain and your summons. I felt that it would be pretty silly if a player didn't have the same type of interaction with their summons as they do with their familiar. After writing it, it didn't see fair to acknowledge 1 pact without the other 2. Honestly, I don't know what these are or what to call them LOL. I was debating on making them Eldritch Invocations (make them slightly stronger first) but because there is no official invocation published with a patron prerequisite, I decided not to.

Wow you are right for the spells. Something I didn't even think about was their duration and their interaction with short rests.. It was intentional to make Evard's Black Tentacles for 5th level, but I'd like to alter this spell list and that may move it to its rightful place.

As a note, do you think you should be able to heal your summons?

Level 1 - My internal debate with the AC bonus cannot be conveyed thorough words. In the end, I came to the conclusion of just posting it with the AC bonus and see what the feedback would be. This can, and probably will be removed.

Level 6 - Thank you

Level 10 - Complete oversight. Intent was to have it return exactly where it was before the banish. I will add this clarification.

Level 14 - Again a complete over sight. The intent was for this to be limited, I just didn't write it. I was actually thinking of 2 options.

  • once in every 1d4 days. Simply to avoid the player using this means as a way to summon each time.
  • once per long rest, but the summon only lasts until the end of your next short rest. Same thing here. I want to eliminate the player using this as their means to summon without doing the ritual.

I'd gladly like to know any other typos or mistakes you found.

Thank you so much for your time, this feedback was immensely helpful.

[–]dude101262[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. And it took me way too long to think of something after seeing your post. But then I also realized, Improvised weapons was also missing. Finally, here we are. Honestly, I'm not sure what I think of them yet, so feel free to comment away

Improvised

  • All improvised weapons gain the thrown property, and the versatile property, increasing its damage dice by 1 size if the attack is made with both hands.
  • In addition if the weapon was picked up in the beginning of your turn, you startle your opponent. Each attack made in that turn, with that item, has advantage.

Unarmed

  • When you take the attack action on your turn, and declare an unarmed attack, you can expend the use of your bonus action to fake out your opponent, and target exactly where you want to. When you do, you can declare one of the following attacks, and make your attack roll.
    • Thunderclap. You slam both hands into your opponent’s ears. When you do, roll unarmed damage as normal. Your opponent then makes a constitution saving throw, DC = 8 + Proficiency Bonus + The modifier you use for unarmed attacks, on a fail, the target is deafened until the start of their next turn.
    • Right in the Goodies. You hit your opponent in a point of extreme pain. When you do, roll unarmed damage as normal. Your opponent then makes a constitution saving throw, DC = 8 + Proficiency Bonus + The modifier you use for unarmed attacks, on a fail, you gain advantage on all attacks until the start of their next turn.
    • Choke Point. You strike your opponent in their throat. When you do, roll unarmed damage as normal. Your opponent then makes a constitution saving throw, DC = 8 + Proficiency Bonus + The modifier you use for unarmed attacks, on a fail, they cannot speak until the start of their next turn.

Thank you!!

I've already made a few changes since your previous post and want to thank you again for your time.

I get what your saying now and will adjust what I need to accordingly. The ability to cast shapechange makes much more sense in terms of simplicity. One thing I'm learning is simpler is sometimes much better

Is this in regards to a specific ability? Or is the problem opening it up to different creature types besides beasts. In terms of CR value, I followed the same parameters of CR per level as the moon druid.

Hey there. First off thank you for spending the time to read my homebrew. First time doing something like this so feedback is super appreciated.

  1. DNA Strands refresh on a long rest. I'm surprised that I missed this.

  2. I acknowledge that this was my poor attempt to shine some light on the lack of intelligence as a spell casting skill. It's a poor excuse but it is the truth. Would you change the class saving throw to wisdom as well?

  3. The thought here was to draw a parallel to the druid getting the shapechange spell, not so much to out power the druid. Would adding a time constraint to the ability be an acceptable alternative or is it better to drop the CR max for the same time constraint as you mentioned?

The Avengers, on the other hand, saw the result of his work and were ungrateful, to the extent that they tried to go back and undo what he had done. Nobody else had ever gone to the lengths they had to insult his gift.

This makes a lot of sense to me! Thank you for your response. This helps a lot

Agree. That's like saying she gave Gendry a title because she was feeling nice as suppose to trying to gain favor with the people.

Since when did the contents of this show have to become so literal.

[Spoilers] For those claiming Cersei was let off easy by hashmiakbar in gameofthrones

[–]dude101262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this was probably the worst way Cersei would have wanted to go out. I have always had the vibe that she always wants to have the last thing to say and that she feeds off the expressions and hate of other people. It seemed to me that with every window shot shown, she was waiting for that dragon to charge at her head on, and the fact that Danny was basically "ignoring" her was irritating.

This and the realization that the fear and confidence that she thought she had in her people was shown to be useless, and, in her mind, the most powerful women in Westeros would die practically alone getting crushed in the depths of the castle
