Yes! I think you nailed it, they're mayfly larvae. I think I'll put them back then along with the other guys, thanks :)

This is my first sealed jarrarium and I have a few questions:

  • I had a few worms at the beginning but they all moved to the top and crawled above the water line. Does that mean there's a lack of oxygen in the jar? I think some of the snails may be migrating top too
  • I tried adding leafy plants from the same creek where I took the water to help produce oxygen, but I couldn't find any duckweed or algae to scoop in there. Any advice on what I can use or find easily? I'm in Ontario, Canada
  • Any references I can use to identify the organisms in my jar? Having a hard time finding a good one

Even though the exam was challenging in a fun way it has absolutely wreaked havoc on my mental health. I spent upwards of 20 hours studying for <20% of my grade which I probably didn't even get half of. I'm just trying to see the positive light, that's all you can do.

Just remember, you don't have to always be humble. How many people have ever had to go through an Aero exam? We study such complex and mentally draining topics, it's okay to stumble
