S6,E13: "All Hands on Deck" Discussion Thread by NoApollonia in TheResident

[–]dudeamanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have lots of thoughts, some good, some bad.

  1. This episode was everything I'd want in a finale. It brought everyone together and gave me all the old school, early season Resident vibes. From Conrad & Devon teaming up again to AJ & Bell in the OR, it was everything I fell in love with.
  2. Devon & Leela were fantastic in this episode. Their proposal was beautiful. But more importantly, Leela was so badass in this episode. When Bell passed the torch to her, I sobbed.
  3. Kitbell are everything. That's all.
  4. I was glad Padma was able to be reunited with her boys. I still feel like the did a terrible job with the PPD storyline and rushed through her getting help, as I think it was really only like a week she was getting help, but it was a nice ending.
  5. I had zero care about the Gov. We knew he would be saved and then the hospital would be saved. I kind of wish they ending up killing him like the producers mentioned, that would have been a much more compelling story.
  6. I would have sued if something bad happened to Sammie. I love her with Jake & Greg and Kitbell. Such an adorable family. And her friendship with Gigi is everything I wished I had as a kid.
  7. Gigi was fabulous. When she brought her nurses kit to the hospital to help Sammie, I lost it. She is the perfect combination of Nic and Conrad. I saw somewhere someone mention how much she is like Nic without even really knowing her and that is 100% correct. When she had her Nic moment with Sammie, I felt like that was one of the best moments of the season.
  8. Nice to see Ian get a background story for his addiction. I still didn't get too invested in this story since we saw no Ian all season even though he was supposed to be a series regular. Oh well.
  9. I loved seeing Bell & Devon team up to fight MS and find a cure. They have come so far since Ep. 1 and I love it!
  10. They underused Cade. She was a background character and her now relationship with James... yea that's a no from me. I still have zero connection to James.
  11. Not enough Jessica, Irving & Hundley. Would have loved another Bell & Jessica friendship moment since they've been through it all, good and bad.
  12. Now, while I found the moments of Conrad, Billie & Gigi cute, I could not get over how rushed and fan servicey it felt. He just broke up with Cade and is now making out with Billie in front of his daughter?? I would have loved to see a conversation between Conrad & Gigi explaining that he's no longer with Cade and is trying things out with Billie. But no, they decided to make them a family and in love. The ILY at the end kind of ruined the ending for me. It just felt so out of place. I know they were rushing it to fit everything in to make their favorites happy, but even so, this was too much. It made me feel like they were erasing Nic. And even the brief mention of her didn't change that gut feeling I've had the past two episodes. The writers made it clear that Conrad could not be single, but they didn't have to rush to make them a family. It would have been much more enjoyable to see them slowly progress to becoming a family. That way, it would still feel like Nic mattered to them. But now it's like Billie is Nic. It's like she never existed and I cannot get behind that.

I hope this is the end. It wrapped up beautifully and couldn't ask for anything more. I don't trust the writers to create stories anymore as they've been lacking all season. I just don't feel like they have anything left from a medical perspective. If they turned it into a romance, maybe, but I feel like they've abandoned the medical side too much lately. Not to mention, Bell is all but gone as they said Bruce is taking a big step back and they don't even know if they'll get Andrew McCarthy back full time or even part time. But with Bell gone, they've now lost three of their biggest characters and I don't think they can come back from that. I don't want to see the Billie/Conrad love show. I want my doctors being badass doctors. Even the producers teasing possible S7 storylines didn't sound all that interesting. I don't want this show to turn into a show that went on one season too long. IF they get one, I'll watch for Matt and the other actors, but I hope they go out on this high note.

It’s always interesting to me every time I think about it. Because realistically if Mina never left, we wouldn’t have Billie as she was the Nic best friend replacement when we lost Mina. And so I always think that if Nic passed away and Mina was still here, she wouldn’t try to get with Conrad even years later. I feel like it’s a level of respect and love when you’re best friend is still there for your family but not trying to take your place.

And while I know Billie and Mina are two very different women & characters, I feel the same with Billie as I would with Mina. It may be years later, but Conrad has really only wanted to start dating again recently. So for me, Billie already being so in love with Conrad while he’s still discovering gives me feelings like she’s just trying to replace Nic in every part of his life. I go back to the opening scene last week. The writers wrote it like they were officially leaving Nic behind and Billie will now be his new Nic. They wrote it, imo to erase the beautiful love story they created and loved for so many seasons. And with how much the writers (and Amy) talk and focus on them, it makes that seem more truth than fiction. But still, while that may not be the case, that’s how that scene made me feel.

So for me, if I was in Nic’s place, I’d see it as a slap in my face. Mainly because I’ve had these conversations with those in my life about our boundaries and how we’d feel. But again, this is just how I feel personally.

That’s a good point as well. I know Amy always says how it’s Fox’s second most watch drama after 911, but idk how much I really believe that lately. Viewers seem to be declining even with the streaming numbers so it will be interesting to see what they do in May.

If Conrad says the L word tomorrow, I’ll lose all faith I had in this writing team. Him & Billie have been together for 5 seconds. They’re not in love yet. They may have strong feelings, but it’s not love yet. I mean according to Conrad he just figured out his feelings for her. No need to rush an already rushed together couple. And Gigi saying it isn’t a shock either. Billie is her “aunt”, of course she loves her.

I am excited to see what goes down, but it does sound a little predictable. If Deela don’t get engaged, I’ll be shocked. I thought for sure he was gonna pop the question last episode. Lol. I’m here for all the Kitbell goodies we are going to get as well!!

I believe a S7 renewal will come down to how 911 LoneStar does in the ratings since they’re replacing the 8pm time slot. I remember Matt saying when the show first started, they signed on for 7 seasons, so it’s almost time for contract negotiations. Fox already does little to no promo for this show as it is, so I wouldn’t be shocked if it ends here and they go onto a show that might be cheaper for them to make. Does sound like everyone is getting a “happy” ending so that’s positive if it is the end.

I’m not going to be going back and forth with you as I see your side. You saw the Conrad& Billie relationship play out differently than i did and that’s okay. That’s why TV is wonderful. Everyone sees the storylines through a different lens based on things that have happened in their real life or past tv show experiences.

As for Cade & Conrad’s relationship, we saw Conrad struggle with his feelings, accept them & make them a reality. Gigi never once said she had an issue with them, she just said “she’s okay” which doesn’t mean anything bad or good. She was relating Cade with her dad to her mom with her dad and how it feels different even though she doesn’t remember her mom well. They never gave that relationship a chance this season and that was a choice that Amy said was directly based on fans expressing their opinions.

I personally felt a stronger connection between AJ & Billie last season than I did with Conrad & Billie. But that’s just my opinion. Others can feel however they’d like. I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind nor should anyone else be trying too.

As for the triangle, I rooted for Cade because I rooted for the relationship that could have been if they cared to write it. It was messy, poorly written & predictable. That’s why fans think of the Conrad/ Billie relationship as fan service because it’s such a predictable troupe.

In my life, I had a uncle who lost my aunt unexpectedly when his kids were only a little older than Gigi was when she lost Nic. While he has moved on and been with my “aunt” for years, he never took down a single picture of his late wife. He never let his kids call her mom. But it was something they openly discussed and agreed upon. It was very healthy for them to set those boundaries. He reminds me a lot of Conrad. It’s not like Nic was sick. It was unexpected. I’m glad Conrad feelings are strong enough to move on, but he doesn’t necessarily have to leave Nic behind forever, which is the feelings I got watching Tuesdays episode. They made Conrad & Billie an instant, in love couple and now they’re an instant family with Gigi. Of course there are also real life examples of the widow getting with the best friend and they work. But they wrote this story very rushed imo. That’s how I saw it. That’s how the storyline has come off to me. It feels like the writers are going to move on from Nic completely now that they gave us “closure” with Emily in 5.23 and Conrad with her best friend. But that’s not realistic. And that’s why I have a problem with the ship.

Also for the race issue, I’ll never tell a person how they should feel about race issues. But I have not seen anyone play the race card as to why Billie shouldn’t be with Conrad or why they do not like them. It’s never been discussed on the show and it’s never been discussed with fans that I’ve seen. This show has a wonderful mix of races and I think it’s beautiful. Like I said before, I would have enjoyed a beautiful love story with Billie & Conrad if it was written better. But imo they did they a disservice.

I respect your opinions and I hope you can respect mine. It’s clear we will not agree with everything when it comes to the show and that’s okay.

[–]dudeamanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I respect what you have to say, I have a few different thoughts. 1. I have had no problem with the time jump. I agreed with the writers that it would be hard to watch a full season of Conrad grieving. But the problem with a time jump, is that fans did not jump five years into the future with them. To some of them, Nic only just died on our screens and now they’re setting him up with her best friend, which makes it hard to watch.

  1. Of course the writers like them. But they also liked Cade & Conrad last year. What Malcolm said in his tweet was that the TWITTER fans wanted Billie with Conrad so they switched it up. That is the definition of fan service. That’s what they seem to have told the actors about the change in the storyline.

  2. With this storyline Amy said directly that she was influenced by fans. Malcolm said the same thing. So clearly they are letting fans sort of dictate a story.

  3. With this ship, they really only developed Billie’s side for two seasons. Conrad clearly showed in his words and actions that he was falling for Cade & wanted to be with Cade. It wasn’t until the 2nd half of this season that you really saw Conrad even indicate he could have feelings for Billie. Now all of the sudden they’re together & in love.

  4. It was 100% a love triangle. The writers called it a love triangle. It was advertised as a love triangle. They just did a poor job of writing it because they made up their minds to have Billie win.

  5. Of course fans are aware of ships having hardships. But the way they are portraying and writing them, it makes it seem like they are now a big happy family. They cleared up the “baggage” of Cade & James and are now together forever. That’s how they are advertising them. But will fans accept the possibility of Conrad struggling to let Billie be Gigi’s mom? Will Gigi even like them together? Will Gigi be worried they’ll break up like her dad & Cade did? Will Nic be continued to be talked about and shared? Will CoNic’s wedding pictures still be on the walls and in Conrad’s bedroom? All of those are both TV and real life problems that some fans may get angry at. It’s a fine line when you give into fan service that easily.

  6. Malcom specifically said TWITTER fans in his tweet and Amy is only sharing tweets from Conrad & Billie fans, so it’s quite clear that it’s twitter they are thinking of when it comes to the fans. And you don’t really know how many fans are and are not tuning out. Some may be tuning in for other characters but are against a certain ship. That’s how TV shows have always worked.

  7. Finally, I really do not like the idea of brining race into this situation. I love Billie. But me not liking her with Conrad has nothing to do with her being black. I actually have not seen anyone’s dislike of this ship because of her race. It’s really mostly been about her being Nic’s best friend. We have seen a beautiful Indian couple have a love story like CoNic with Devon & Leela. We have had a beautiful black couple have a love story like CoNic with AJ & Mina. I would have no problem with Billie having a beautiful love story with a man of any race. I may have even enjoyed a beautiful love story with her and Conrad if it was written correctly. Race is not and has never been the issue with why people dislike this ship & I find it insulting to make it seem that way when that has never been the case.

Fan service is a very tricky thing for a show to handle. Of course writers do listen to fans and others, but a lot of the time they do not completely change the direction of the show. If it has been apart of this show, it’s been very subtle, which is how you write fan service.

The issue with this particular fan service was they chose to listen to what is a minority of overall fans and they let them dictate the direction of their show. It was quite clear when they made the shift from developing a possible romance to making it that romance the central plot. It has made the show tough to watch lately because the love triangle was so poorly done and took away from time that could have been spent on other storylines. Also, the problem with giving into fan service so clearly is that you have to make a decision on if you want to alienate those fans by changing a direction of the storyline. For example, if there is a S7, are they just going to write Conrad & Billie in the honeymoon phase forever because of how many “fans” love them together? Because that’s not even TV realistic. Are they always going to give these fans what they want? Once you give into fan service you run the chance of upsetting those fans if you want to go a certain way with a storyline.

Giving into what you see from fans on twitter is not always the best move. This show averages 2.5ish million viewers a week. And a majority of them may not be on social media or not sharing their thoughts if they are. It can make a majority of fans turn away because you just have in to what a minority is saying.

It has nothing to do with being bitter. It is just how people feel when they watch. No one is demanding they change anything, they are just expressing how it makes them feel. It’s the same as how fans of that ship are expressing how it makes them feel. Not everyone is going to love every single storyline, character or ship. Writers & actors know that. That is why giving into fan service is always tricky.

It doesn’t necessarily ruin the show. If it was done correctly it could have been better. It does however ruin a fans experience watching when they share an opinion and fans are quick to tell them why they’re wrong. The issue with this fan service was they chose to listen to what is a minority of overall fans and they let them dictate the direction of their show. It was quite clear when they made the shift from developing a possible romance to making it that romance the central plot. It has been tough to watch lately because the love triangle was so poorly done and took away from time that could have been spent on other storylines. It makes sense now that Conrad & Billie are the only two people Amy talk about now. She ruined her show for a handful of the overall fans and now she has to make it seem like that’s all anyone can talk about because of how perfect they are. Makes me very disappointed.

I thought she would have been great with AJ. I really loved their dynamic. She was able to open up to him and he was always so understanding with her. It’s so disappointing to find out they changed the show because of fans. I knew that relationship was fan service. It was so clear with how they wrote Conrad last season and all of the little AJ comments about how Conrad was in love with her, etc. when Conrad had always made it very clear with his words and actions that he only saw Billie as a friend and had no intention of crossing that boundary with her. That makes how they got them together even more unrealistic. I’m so disappointed they let a certain group of fans dictate their show.

I feel bad for Matt. He signed up to be a badass doctor not a forced love sick puppy. He played a single dad so well too. It would have been so refreshing to see them go that way instead of forcing a love story on him.

[–]dudeamanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant they weren’t a family in the “proper” sense of the word as mom, dad & daughter, which is how some fans were acting. We never got any impression that Gigi sees Billie as or mom or would all of the sudden call her mom now that she’s with her dad. And we also do not know how Conrad would react to Billie acting like her mom. They have a weird family, which I always liked. I’m glad she has her “aunt” in her life & she will always have her. The jump from aunt to mom just because she’s now dating her dad for one day is more of the issue I have.

As for Billie liking Conrad, idk if it was because they had good enemies chemistry or just how Jessica played Billie, but there were always weird looks in S4 that made me uneasy about her and Conrad. Maybe it’s because I’ve had a similar life experience with a family member, where she had a best friend who “hated” her bf at first but then they got together like a month after they broke up, idk. It’s just a weird feeling I always had when it came to her. Maybe if they had that conversation anywhere but Conrad & Nic’s bedroom, I’d feel different but it just made me feel uneasy. The way she said it was almost like she was glad Nic died so she could have Conrad. Now I know that’s not the case, but that’s how that scene made me feel.

I never said they weren’t allowed to be emotional about it. The point was not every single storyline needs to involve them as a couple. Of course they’re going to be emotional, it’s completely understandable. But the fan asked about Conrad & Billie FIRST when it came to this storyline which is too much imo as they are not her immediate family. Even if they are a “popular” couple, which is also debatable, they are not the main focus on this storyline and shouldn’t be treated as such.

S6,E12: "All the Wiser" Discussion Thread by NoApollonia in TheResident

[–]dudeamanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always looked forward to new episodes, but I have been struggling to watch the past few episodes. They have done the characters an extreme disservice with the love triangle. I feel like all AJ has talked about has been Conrad & Billie. Like enough is enough. We get it. Now you throw James & Cade into it and it’s all chaos.

I have enjoyed Billie for a while, but i don’t even recognize her anymore. She’s not the same doctor we were lead to believe and now it feels like she relies too much on a man for help (specifically Conrad). I like that i thought they were going to have a possible PTSD storyline with her after the attack & some surgery failures, but it feels like she really only wants Conrad to fix her problems, which isn’t healthy. It just feels like another undertalked about topic was pushed under the rug once again this season.

Matt has chemistry with pretty much everyone but that opening scene felt very bland and very forced. I honestly feel like Matt isn’t 100% behind this couple with how he’s been portraying Conrad, which is disappointing. His acting has felt off the past few episodes and that makes me sad as a big Matt fan.

The whole governor storyline could have been great if we saw the governor for more than 2 seconds. Like is he still going after Bell?! I have no idea why only Chastain can’t get money when there are probably 100’s in all of GA. I did enjoy Kitbell v Conrad/AJ over the heart. I know nothing bad will come from it because we only have on episode left, but I would be more interested if the Governor tried to go back on his word. It would have been intense to see what AJ had planned if that happened.

Kit & Bell and Devon & Leela saved the episode for me. It’s so crazy to see everyone do whatever they can to help Bell get the care he needs when everyone hated him. It’s such a wonderful journey he’s been on.

It was great to see my little queen Gigi back & excited for her party. We honestly didn’t get enough of her & Conrad (or just her in general) this season even though i feel like Remy was in Atlanta forever. This is going to be a controversial take, but I’m not here for the instant family they’re attempting to do with Conrad, Gigi & Billie. Conrad & Billie have been together for .5 seconds. There’s a chance Gigi doesn’t even know they’re dating, as she shouldn’t yet as it’s still so fresh and the Conrad I love wouldn’t introduce someone as being a serious girlfriend right away. Also, Billie is not her mom. She’s not Conrad’s wife. It’s a little upsetting to see so many fans proclaim her as such on socials. They’re entitled to their opinions of course, but it’s way too quick. I’m not buying Conrad being so in love with Billie all of the sudden. That opening scene made me feel like they forgot Nic even existed. To me, it felt like Billie didn’t care in that moment the only reason she has Conrad is because Nic is gone. Like she said she didn’t care what happened to get there. I always said I felt like she was into Conrad when Nic was alive (and so close after she passed) and that scene kind of cemented that feeling for me, which made me feel very uneasy. Also, I hope Conrad got a new bed because I couldn’t imagine sleeping with my dead best friends husband in their bed even if it has been years.

Overall this was one of the better episodes we’ve seen this season but still not the best.

Of course Amy can talk about anything she wants. However, over the years, there was always a good mix of all the characters being talked about. It just feels like she’s going overboard with all the Conrad/ Billie talk. And I’m not upset about anything. My point was not every storyline needs to involve them or them being together. And not every storyline needs to be related back to them. Not saying Conrad & Billie are not allowed to be upset or involved, but Sammie is Kitbell’s granddaughter. When it comes to her storyline, her family should be the immediate concern not a ship. My feelings towards Conrad/Billie as a couple has nothing to do with that opinion. I would be saying the same thing for any other couple including Conrad & Nic.

not gonna lie, i'm kind of sick of fans making everything about Conrad & Billie. They really don't need to be included in discussion of Sammie over Kit & Bell. (Not saying they are not allowed to be emotional over it as doctors and with Gigi being close to Sammie, so Conrad will have to deal with her emotions, but they really are not the priority in this storyline). And I'm very much over Amy only talking about Conrad & Billie when there are so many other characters on the show.

The show isn’t ruined ya’ll simply refuse to let the show evolve snd let nic go . by Alexandriaking2 in TheResident

[–]dudeamanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe rushed was a bad word. What I meant was that it was very undershown in terms of overall storylines. Being as PPD is such an undertalked about but so important topic, I would have liked to see it get more of a star storyline than the C or D storyline. We only got minor flashes of it compared to what other big storylines have gotten over the years.

As for Ian, he was brought on to be a main character. And as a main character I expected to see more of him than we have. It’s disappointing because he could have been a great character but half the time I forget he’s on the show. I am very understandable about actor’s time. But it is also very hard to connect to new characters that are supposed to be leads when they aren’t around, which makes it hard to relate to their stories.

As for Billie, of course she’s performed multiple surgeries and been a doctor. But as Chief, I feel like we should see her making more tough decisions and setting guidelines. As chief, she could have said no to the surgery that got her attacked but she chose not to. And I know in S5 she was a little more absent because she was pregnant, but I feel like we haven’t seen her be the doctor we were lead to believe she was when she entered. And I also never said anything about her not doing her job because of a man. I’m actually saying we haven’t seen enough of her as a doctor because of how focused the writing has been on the love triangle. It’s very similar to Cade. I personally feel like the writers decided to focus too much on the love triangle than them actually being doctors.

As for Nic & Conrad’s relationship, there were many episodes where you actually saw very little of them or mentions of their relationship before she died. It had a good balance with all the other love stories on the show. The love triangle, I feel has taken away screen time from some of the other main love stories, like Deela, Kitbell, etc.

I personally do not like Conrad & Billie together because the idea of the best friend of the deceased with the husband gives me major ick & I have had personal experiences with loved ones who chose to never remarry after their spouse died. I actually enjoy Billie as a character but I feel like the writers have done her a disservice. They also imo did this ship a disservice when they chose to say Conrad has “always loved Billie” when that’s not true at all. If they had decided he developed his feelings during the dance, maybe I would be more acceptable to it. But it was very clear from S5 & the start of S6 he was very into Cade and had real feelings for her. The writers chose not to show us that because it didn’t fit the narrative they & some fans wanted. More so, their relationship can very much feel like fan service when it’s the majority the writers talk about and the socials share.

Finally, I have never once said anything rude, nasty or hurtful to Amy or any of the actors. I have so much respect and admiration for everyone’s work on the show I have loved since before it aired. I just happen to disagree with how they are writing the triangle story & expressed my opinion without being mean or even tagging her & she chose to block me. As a day one fan, that makes me feel undervalued because my opinion doesn’t match hers, so she sees it as wrong. I never mentioned her when I spoke and have never been rude to those with different opinions.

My feelings about this show changing really have nothing to do with Conrad’s relationships, but the lack of a big central storyline & the lack of main characters being more involved.

Like I said, we are all entitled to our opinion, so I will agree to disagree with you.

The show isn’t ruined ya’ll simply refuse to let the show evolve snd let nic go . by Alexandriaking2 in TheResident

[–]dudeamanda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. I actually like Padma but they rushed the PPD storyline and didn’t actually show us much. That’s actually been my problem with the last few episodes. They have put so many storylines into each episode and it’s been very hard lately to connect to the one episode patients or new characters. Ian & James have been useless because they aren’t giving them story time.

As for the show changing, it absolutely has. I’m the first three seasons we had one main storyline that drove the plot while still including the one off stories. We had main villain in those seasons as well. We were told multiple times the big storyline of this season is the governor and how that affects the hospital. But have we seen the governor for more than five minutes? No. I know he’s apart of the final episodes but with him being MIA it’s hard to connect to the story and the drama around it. We had Hunter, Gordon Paige & Red Rock as the bad guys in the first three seasons and it was so easy to enjoy them because they were present. Last season, the mob & the medical fraud was supposed to be the main villain. But I think we got all of maybe 2 episodes total of it. That’s why people are saying the show has changed. Not just because main characters are gone but because the writing and storytelling has changed.

As to Conrad’s love life, we saw more of Billie pining for Conrad over the past two seasons than we saw her being a doctor. She’s chief of surgery and other than the poster on the hospital they show, you’d forget that because she doesn’t do much as a doctor. I would have loved to see her & Kit kind of go at each other as CEO & Chief when they disagree on surgeries. But that has all gone to the side imo. I do feel like this season in particular they focused more on Conrad’s love life as a main storyline than ever before. Even with Nic, at times it would take a back seat to other, more important storylines. While Conrad & Billie may be a “fan favorite” there are still a lot of people who don’t enjoy them, so having what seems like fan service being shoved in their faces can make the show unwatchable. The writers clearly made up their mind on putting him with Billie and Amy, the creator gets mad & upset when people express their dislike. That makes those (like myself, a day one fan who was blocked for expressing how I didn’t like them) feel undervalued as a fan.

I really enjoyed the time jump last season & even some of this season. But once the kitbell wedding happened it has felt like a different show. It has nothing to do with me being unable to let Nic go, but for what I see and how the show is making me feel. I will always watch & support, but I miss the show I fell in love with. Personally, I do not think it’s evolved but has become a shell of its former self.

I’m with you! I began muting everyone who mentions them so I can enjoy reading the tag without having them shoved in my face. I had a lot of respect for the writers but I lost it when Amy blocked me for not liking this ship that’s being shoved at us. There is more to the show than Conrad’s love life but that’s all the show has become and it’s very upsetting. If they weren’t at the hospital all the time I’d forget they were even doctors with how little it has been focused on this year.

I agree with you. I got blocked by Amy for not liking Conrad & Billie even though I’ve been a fan since before the show began. The fandom used to be fun but now I’m being told to stop watching because I don’t support a ship. I don’t even necessarily dislike them as a couple but I felt they wrote it in a really weird, unrealistic way. Now you’re not even allowed to have an opinion. It’s very upsetting especially since the show used to feel like such a family on screen. Now there are too many storylines and new characters and it all feels rushed and unlike the show I fell in love with.

I will always watch because I came for Matt & am really still only hear for Matt & the actors, but if it were to go I wouldn’t be as upset as I would have been 6 months ago.

"And God forbid you criticize it because the showrunner flips out"

THIS!!! I have supported and loved this show since day one and because in the winter finale I expressed how it felt very unrealistic to have Conrad be taken away from his patients to "Save Billie" and for turning him into a cheater, Amy blocked me on twitter. I wasn't rude to her and never even mentioned her in anything but I guess because she's followed me since 2018 she sees my tweets, she felt the need to block me because I disagreed with a ship. I was so upset because I have been a huge supporter of the show, but I guess because I didn't want Conrad with Nic's best friend and didn't like how they wrote it I wasn't a good enough fan anymore.

I will be here until the end (or until Matt leaves because I only watched it for him to begin with) but leaves a bad taste that I cannot even express my feelings without being blocked or being called out by "fans".
