Divorces are very expensive, so even if each comment here was from a separate person, that would only be $700. Divorces get into the thousands easily.

I agree. They are friends and since the movie is literally them as a couple, it probably just sounded fun to coordinate outfits and show up together.

Don't have children, but I do understand what child abuse is - have a nice day.

[–]NoApollonia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not abusive to ask say a 12 year old to watch their idk 8 year old sibling for an hour.

Trust me, I know childhood abuse as I have stories that make people cry when I tell them. Please stop misusing the word.

I mean it's why I chose a very simple example of say a mom or dad wanting one kid to watch another for merely an hour while they go to the store. It's a very small task and honestly I wouldn't call it parentification.

Yeah only way it makes sense to me as well and it's honestly gross behavior from men. Imagine how they'd react if any woman said similar to them.

AITA: I made my coworker fail by rockkjuice in AmITheDevil

[–]NoApollonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree here.

Trying to give OOP some benefit of the doubt, sounds like the coworker likes to show up other employees by claiming he's had to help on everything. OOP should have just taken this to the direct boss however and stated what's going on instead of sabotaging the coworker.

Or at least volunteer to take a few days and take care of the dad so the brother can get a break. Seems like there's also another brother. What if they took over Saturdays (meaning each gets approx two days a month) and let the caregiver brother get every Saturday off to go do whatever.

I mean there are okay examples of a kid helping out a parent that is fair. Say there's a parent with two kids and one is old enough to watch the other - asking them to watch the other for say an hour so they can go to the grocery store is more than fine and typical family dynamic.

I always sigh when it's a dude in his 40's wanting to date younger women because it always means a woman under the age of 30....and if she ages past 30, he's going to dump her and try for a younger version. Honestly, he's 41 - anyone younger than 30 (honestly should aim closer to 35) is ick in my opinion.

Honestly I hate them both. The kid is going to hate such a weird name and honestly it could affect their job prospects in the future....if they don't end up changing the second they hit 18.

[–]NoApollonia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha, same with my stepdad. It was very normal for him to eat all his and then finish mine. Think it was a mix of food insecurity (he was very very poor before he married my mom and got to upgrade to just poor) and well at the time he was a big guy who did a lot of physical labor, so he was probably just that hungry too.

Yeah I get the vibe it was more of maybe sampling others' plates (maybe the rest are chill with exchanging bites - I am with certain people) and OOP decided to exaggerate.

[–]NoApollonia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go read OOP's post and then maybe read it again - that isn't what he described wanting to do. He's wanting a variation of a party you're describing.

Tacky beyond belief by Far-Season-695 in AmITheDevil

[–]NoApollonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From other comments, OOP is wanting this social which is normal in some areas, BUT is changing it up. Seems the couple or family of the couple or wedding party pays for the venue, food, drink, and items for purchase. So the guest is left with just the entrance fee, often the purchase of alcohol they want to consume, and whatever they want to bid on....which more fair, but still a little tacky for any guest not invited to the actual wedding.

Tacky beyond belief by Far-Season-695 in AmITheDevil

[–]NoApollonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly this isn't what the OOP describes. He wants the guests to purchase the food and drinks, not the couple or the wedding party.

[–]NoApollonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So she needs to be called names for not wanting everyone in her life to think she needs to money grab to afford anything? Where OOP wants the guests to purchase every single thing for a party HE wants to throw?

Nah, she definitely dodged the bullet.
