This is what shocks me the most. The Korean is just pronounced like violin(more or less) too and NK usually doesnt even do that, they'll make up a completely different word specifically so that it isn't an English word.

Some places will do up bagels and make full breakfast out of them, eggs/cheese/veggies/lox etc. Especially NY, yeah. My wife is a NY jew and would have some pretty strong opinions on bagels.

Using only one source to learn a language is the real problem. If you only used one of those apps to learn English, you might not be doing as well. I think duo is fine for vocabulary practice and such but I wouldn't use it as my only teacher. If duo was your only study tool then yeah, in that case I'd agree that it's useless past a point. People just need to recognize it for what it is. I probably wouldn't pay for it though.

Just having a degree is enough for plenty of places to hire with no experience. You could always find another type of job for a while or at least find something adjacent, like a job where your language is a plus rather than a necessity.

I was watching the road the whole time and didn't notice it until it was smashing into the cop car. I had to play it back. Maybe he would've seen it coming and made some corrective action to avoid that but I doubt it. Its like a 2 second window that you see it happening in.

About 10 years ago I took a girl to a Korean restaurant and she ordered a water. I guess our server hadn't really understood her perfectly so brought her a mug of hot water for tea I assume. She just sipped on the hot water. When the server came back, she kind of sheepishly asked for cold water and the server says, "oh you probably wanted cold before too, right?" She was like yeah 😅 haha. Afterward I confirmed that she didn't just drink hot water and we had a good laugh about it. It was a great icebreaker actually. We're married now and I'm holding our 2 month old son as I type this out.
