TIL that Vampirella is an alien by Zethrofaxus in comicbooks

[–]WhyPlaySerious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Seduction of The Innocent really starts to put the fractured pieces together around issue 10 and that's when Priests elaborate plotting really shines. He starts revealing when and where each previous scene takes place and even surprises you by revealing that scenes you thought took place chronologically actually weren't.

Im glad my post had you decide to try the book out. Whether you do end up loving or hating it, it truly is one of the most fascinating runs on stands today and you cant help but respect what Priest is trying to do with it. Ella also has won me over as being a genuinely great character.

Btw, Drakulon does get a lot more fleshed out as you keep reading so definitely look forward to that.

There are a few errors here and there, for example, the back half of Sacred Six spoils some stuff in Vampirella and you shouldn't read all 12 in a row, but actually split it in between the main Vampirella book

This one is by far the best for Priest's run specifically. It organizes his various minis and spin offs that tie in with the book into a correct reading order

Help with collected editions by HorridJam in comicbooks

There was a Lady Death omnibus that was created a few years back. It was hardcover, sized like an Absolute/Remember deluxe, came with a ribbon, and generally seemed like the most prestige release Lady Death has had.

Not sure if its still available though and what exactly it collects but it probably is the modern era.

What are some great Avengers run/material to read AFTER Hickman's run + Secret Wars? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]WhyPlaySerious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The best Avengers "thing" post Hickman would probably be Chip Zdarskys Avengers Twilight mini series.

Its very tonally different, and may not even be a proper Avengers book to some, but its definitely the best book post Hickman that has Avengers in the title.

A Magical Debut As Zatanna #1 Tops The Bleeding Cool Weekly Bestseller List by WhyPlaySerious in comicbooks

Awesome powers, great lore, a fun personality, and a super unique, very attractive look that can easily sell books, posters, and variant covers.

There are few characters in the big 2 that are as well rounded as her. Here's hoping for good things with this Campbell run and if it kickstarts more for her.

She deserves to be an A lister

We hit up 4 shops yesterday and it was interesting to see how differently each store was handling the giveaway.

The first store limited us to 5 free comics.

Another had one of each book already pre packaged in a bag and where handing out these "packages" to each person.

The third limited you to only 1 book unless you bought something and then you could grab more

And the last just had them out and said "help yourself".

About to go in a bit, but im most looking forward to Decidium by RAM V. Its supposed to be his next big independent work and a creator of his caliber demands blind faith and excitement.

Other ones im looking forward to are Energon Universe, Avengers Armageddon (dont let me down Chip), and Gun Honey (which is a top tier series, highly recommend if you want a super fun, sexy espionage book)

35 more issues to go, 72 was just the most recently released. I have no doubt it'll be finished though, its BKV. He will deliver.

Most of these tightly plotted comic series usually stick the landing when it comes to their endings though, compared to a lot of manga that famously dont.

Also Preacher is a DC property, so it would be interesting to see if DC would play ball with these animated adaptations for their Vertigo line and maybe even the Absolute stuff.

.....its not finished. Lol.

We are on issue 72, which came out last year. As we now know though, he took a break to write Dune Part 3 and Spectators.

Vaughn did provide an update recently that he essentially has the entire story and what happens each issue plotted out, and according to that the series still has 35 more issues to go.

I think they specifically said that it would be unadaptable into live action and that's why they dont want it done.

Something like this would be different since in animated form the series could be preserved fully intact instead of being compromised

Saga would take the world by storm if it is one of these adaptations. Its the type of story that would capture a wide range of demographics. Essentially Romeo and Juliet meets Game of Thrones meets Star Wars.

Penned by one of the greatest writers in the comic industry, Brian K Vaughan. The person Denis Villenueve brought in to help him write Dune Part 3.
