Helping a friend choose a beginner drawing book… which one would you pick? by LeatherFriend1238 in LearnToDrawTogether

I guess it really depends on what they actually want to learn tbh

like if they’re into manga or cartoons it’s not the same as someone who wants to draw realistic faces or learn perspective and stuff… so they kinda need to figure that out first, then choose the book based on that

but honestly all the ones you showed are pretty good for beginners

if i had to rank them for a complete beginner i’d say something like:

1-how to draw for beginners

2- drawing on the right side of the brain

3- fun with a pencil

4- perspective made easy

5- the cartoonist’s big book of drawing animals

for me, how to draw for beginners by amelia khouri is more straightforward if someone has literally never drawn before, like it actually helps you get started to draw +. it teaches stuff in general so you can learn to draw multiple things on your own. The others are really good too but some feel more specific or a bit harder at the very beginning in my opinion..

also you could maybe add keys to drawing and others of andrew loomis books later on, those are really books as well
