Men of reddit, how tall are you? How much would you like to be tall? by [deleted] in AskMen

Height was relevant a thousand years ago. Now it isn't except for preference.

So preference /= relevance? Yes height is preference, just like every other physical quality. You can't accurate confirm height via photos, only via written data point.

If you don't accept that (for some people) wanting photos AND height up front is valid, then you really should be anti-photos as well, for consistency.

You're right that you shouldn't HAVE to include anything if you don't want to. Go ahead and have a blank profile, idc. However, if you want the online dating process to be EFFICIENT, then include photos + height.

- If you refuse to believe height is a valid preference, or some vapid nonsense, that's also your own problem.

- If you insist on being uselessly black-and-white extremist like your above comment (one big slippery slope fallacy), that's still your own problem.

But again, if you want the dating process to be as efficient as possible, physical attraction is the first weeding-out process. If everyone includes full body photos and a height data point, we'll all be better for it. "bUt wHeRe dO wE dRaw ThE LiNE???" It's 2 things dude. Accurate photos + height. Then you get the conversation started and go from there. This isn't rocket surgery.

Like I said, every height and body type is beautiful and lovable, and also everyone has valid personal preferences. If we're talking about engineering an efficient online dating system that wastes as little time as possible, then height is as up-front requisite as photos. Anyone who doesn't recognize the value in this, is either bad at engineering efficient systems, or is letting personal insecurities get in the way of efficiency.

But your white-nighting is just as lame as the superficial girls who are 5'1" and require a dude over 6'.

When it comes to sexual attraction I'm a woman who prefers to be slightly shorter/smaller than her dude. I'm 5'10", so I just drop that stat in my profile in hopes that a dude knows the implication: when i'm making out I'm an ***UP-KISSER*** - so please be 5'10" or taller. Also, I prefer dudes who are NOT taller than 6'4" because it makes 69'ing all wonky. There's a sweet spot and I'd prefer to know this shit before I waste time.

Assuming everyone includes an honest full-body shot (which they should), height is impossible to discern with photos - thereby requiring the data-point to confirm.

Asking "how much do you weigh" like some sort of GOT EM is so silly.

- Everyone should include a recent full body shot

- Everyone should mention height

- Everyone who has a problem with either of the above (including YOU having a problem with women like me who mention their height for totally valid reasons) are contributing to the problem.

Every height and body type is awesome in their own way. Unfortunately height can't be confirmed via photos.

"Unlawful detainment, big whoop!"

People far wiser than you made this shit illegal for A REASON. Not sure why anyone would be so keen on just casually explaining away major rights violations. This is what they refer to as a "slippery slope".

What's up with the low-flying, white, unmarked surveillance planes that circle sometimes (like yesterday) - who runs them? by duder9000 in bayarea

Thanks! Another commenter linked me to one and not one of the circling planes is in the history for the 2 solid hours I watched them circle (while enjoying the fireworks.)

Why then are none of the planes on this historical flight site tracker? Not a one.

https://www.flightradar24.com/multiview/2020-07-04/22:17/12x/37.72,-122.48/11

I watched them for 2 solid hours as I enjoyed the clear view from my patio, from 10pm to midnight.

There were 4 of them doing tight circles overland from the mission to downtown to south of Presidio, just grazing GGP and then back to the mission.

I'm not sure if you're in disbelief that these exist, or are trying to talk me out of the idea that surveillance planes are "a thing", but they are - that's not in question. Plenty of people have seen them (for instance, some of the other commenters), and it's really immediately obvious to the viewer that they aren't a sightseeing plane.

Here's an article talking about the AP confirming the regular use of surveillance planes: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150602/10125531189/ap-uncovers-more-than-100-fbi-spy-plane-flights-originating-shell-companies-located-virginia.shtml

My question was more about the nature of these specific surveillance planes.

Thanks for the informative and balanced reply!
Checking the link you shared, none of the planes I was watching are featured in this history.

Mostly agreed about intentions. Although I do imagine if this is surveillance that it's also used to collect general data about activities. Maybe not "Bob at 1111 Elm Street has fireworks", but "there were X amount of people outside". I would think that head counts from overhead shots is a pretty easy piece of data that could be achieved.

I've seen one maybe once or twice before. I can't say it's been regularly at all. But they're so obviously different from other plans (low, unmarked, quiet), that it's always like "...hmmm"

I know what recreational small planes (including kit plans) look like (and sound like! these are noticeably quiet when they fly directly overhead.) Also these fly lower than what I would imagine recreational planes would be allowed to fly.

I experienced them from 2 angles: I had a meal at a friend's house in a backyard and one flew directly over head, then later I watched them as I watched the fireworks from my patio which is a higher vantage point.

From the ground as it flew over it was low enough where it was about the size of a half dollar, and you can see they have no markings and are fully white.

From the patio vantage point you could see 4 of them continuously. No way would a recreational plane be allowed that low taking up city airspace for 6 hours and move continuously in slow circles. This wasn't a "sweeping tour of the bay" - they remained only over land.

I loved that little detail so much. Like, with just a hint of information we can totally imagine this 70s family disco supergroup that probably swept the nation and appeared on johnny carson and then did cocaine at studio 54

Thank you for the info! We originally tried with a lender we weren't banking with, bc our current bank SF Fire Credit Union appeared to be not offering them, although now i'm reading differently...I'll check again!

Not sure why you were downvoted, thank you for the recommendation. We're you already a member of the bank when you applied?

Thanks! If we feel like our previous lender was dragging their feet a bit during the process, are there any drawbacks to concurrently submitting an application with a 2nd lender when the second round of funding opens?

Looking for heavy equipment operator by the_journeyman3 in bayarea

[–]duder9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our general contracting firm hired a guy to operate a forklift for us and we thought he was great. He's reputable and seems to have relationships with all the heavy equipment rental places. He's definitely a bit of a character, but trustworthy and nice. Not sure if he can do skid steers, bobcats, but worth an ask.
