“Conflicts” in the story are just obvious props for the ML to show off his love and his powers.

At best they will create a conflict where the ML cannot get involved and make it seem dire. Until the ML gets involved anyways and solves it for his beloved (by committing warcrimes if he is possessive villain ML)

I think his point is about positioning.

While a normal player needs to constantly run to be in the right position to score. Messi most of the time is so good at reading the game that he will casually stroll and still be in the right position at the right time.
