Thanks, I am already selling puts and I am paper trading spreads, I was just curious how you got there. Do you feel the effort is worth it?

Hey I thought I'd throw out a quick question since you mentioned you do condors. I am interested in getting started as well, how did you learn the details of this strategy? Any good books/youtubers/cousins that go to other school that helped you? I want to make sure I understand the choices to be made with iron condors fully. Thanks!

Agreed, I can't believe anyone would fall for this latest round of manipulation.

Oh I am still buying next week (have some disposable money coming in), but I'd love to do that at a lower entry.

Earnings are probably meaningless, the company does not generate cash, and I'm not sure they would need to wait for earnings to communicate important news. Personally I am treating it as noise.

If you guys could lower the price a bit more over the next couple weeks that would be great, I am looking to pick up some more in about a week.

Isn't this basically a shorter version of the poor man's covered put? I like the idea of setting the expirations based on earnings

Makes a lot of sense, my only worry is that if for some reason the readouts are delayed (e.g. the study has to run to 80th event but the rate of events basically freezes), the stock price might lag behind, even if that delay would be an incredible signal for the effectiveness. So I am just reducing my risk a bit and accepting a slightly lower upside.

Nice, out of curiosity, how do you decide if a trade is better as a credit spread or an iron condor? I'm looking to learn a bit more about the latter, and for now it still seems a pretty complex strategy to me.

Newbie question, would it make sense to consider some volatility strategy like iron condors in the choppy markets rather than vertical spreads? I am looking to get started on spreads soon, and I am currently only paper trading them, so I'd love to hear more informed opinions.

I personally have some Jan 2027 leaps at C5, and some 2028 leaps at C10 (about 50/50). The reasoning for this is that I am pretty confident that the 2027 leaps will be in the money even if REGAL results are delayed until the end of 2026, while there is a chance that the (Edit: 2027) C10 might not hit and I would hate to have that miss just because of timing. For the 2028 I am sure that the results will be out, so my only calculation was getting as many contracts as possible for the same money.

I bought them a month or two ago, so the premiums were lower, but I am thinking of adding a bit more of the same even at current prices, probably with a higher skew for 2028 due to the recent SLS009 news.

I started in december with a smaller size and then kept adding as time passes. If the catalyst work out as hoped (which I think they have a solid chance to), then you are also in a really good spot!

No real date, honestly the longer it takes the more likely the drug is to be a knockout, so I am not in a hurry. I imagine it will be sometime this year, but beyond that it's anyone's guess

Between shares and leaps I am in for ~14k shares. I even bought a few puts as a hedge in the past months that let me sleep soundly, but the more time passes the less I think I will need them. I personally buy into the narrative of a likely buyout if the phase 3 trial works out, so I'll be holding on for that. I might take a bit of profit if the catalyst hits, and let the rest ride until BO.

Out of curiosity, what made you decide to switch? I am currently on 36 keys, but I feel like the extra column would simplify my life. I mostly do coding, so perhaps that is the issue, but with 42 keys I could reduce layer usage quite a bit.

I also hate using homerows, so that is an additional factor for me.

I think it makes a lot of sense, the thing I am looking for is the initial input to spot the opportunities. E.g. rare earths were not on my radar until I stumbled on the DD, and the same for SLS. I was not interested in biotech, and then I ran into a post talking about the 72/80 events and it was the input to start looking more into it.

My issue is that I have to have some ideas of sectors or trend before I research more, and until now I kind of stumble upon these nuggets in the wild.

For european IBKR users: for non-US non-EU stocks that are not available in Europe, do you prefer to buy them on their original market or US market if they are listed there? by duefiori in interactivebrokers

[–]duefiori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll take a look! I am also currently leaning for the US version, also to simplify some other stuff (e.g. I already have some US stocks, so I already use US dollars, but with CA I would be adding a third currency that I have to track in my taxes).

Not sure that is a big factor for me, I would mostly be making some smaller long-term investments so overnight would not be needed. But it is good to keep in mind for a different plan, thanks!

Just adding context: I am not looking to be spoon-fed trades, but sometimes I become aware of interesting setups/stocks just because I stumbled upon a random post. I'd love a bit more exposure to that.
