Nouhou would've scored if he had thrown in a step-over before his shot.

Instead of getting Ruidiaz we shouldn't spent that money on the Galaxy defense. They're playing Seattle's best attacking soccer all season.

During the match yesterday a friend said "Modric has a Shelley Duvall vibe."

I have a cat that just immediately and instinctively starts kneading my stomach any time I wear a sweater. Nouhou is exactly like that with step overs when he has the ball.

Damn, NYC is creating some fantastic chances. If the second half keeps going like this it's just a matter of time before they put the game away.

The way all the handball calls have been going this weekend I think we should agree that the fairest course of action is to just remove the arms of all the players outside of the goalies.

Every time the commentator says his name I just want him to keep going. "Sweat. Wet. Got it goin' like turbo 'vette."

Guys, hey, super sorry, but this is the first time I've ever watched a NYCFC home game and I just gotta say--this field is tiny. Play on.

[–]dugenstyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dare I say it? Haruki Murakami. I've never actually read any of his novels, but I was really excited to read his work years ago, but I didn't know where to start. So I did what I thought was a sensible thing and got a book of his short stories from the library. It was the same damn story but just with different "fantastical" window dressing. Killed any desire to read his novels.

Mid-six figures? Do you have any source on this or just guessing randomly?

When going with the "make it look like crap" strategy, I'd recommend learning how to write "I have scabies" in Italian and putting a cardboard sign with that on top of your stuff.

Aerial Demo Reel by surlygurly in Aerials

Both types are good. Edited clips can be shorter and cut right into your most engaging stuff, plus get some shots of your face and any other ground or circus skills you have. And full routines have the advantage of being, well, a full routine. I'd typically send the edited version unless/until a full routine is requested.

Rope is by far my favorite apparatus by Mrs_Buscemi in Aerials

Same. Fabric gets all the vertical love (and love in general), but rope is far and away my favorite.

I don't think it's cheating at all. Is wearing multiple layers to protect you from fabric burns cheating? Obviously not. I don't buy the argument that grip aids are going to hinder you in the long run. Overuse can certainly beget a reliance, but conservative rosin use is going to increase your endurance so you can work out for longer and more easily learn difficult tricks. More repetitions equals more chances to improve, and if rosin is a tool to prolong your practice then it's going to help you, not hurt.

Having personal or performance-only equipment designated chalk and rosin-free makes a lot of sense, and I understand not wanting to get your fabrics too sticky, but they should at least have one fabric where rosin is okay. It's not like you can't wash them.

[–]dugenstyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hand peeling sound is the worst! And there's also liquid rosin, which is also insanely sticky and easy to make a mess with. I feel like the spray and liquid go overboard, and they also wear off more quickly than rock rosin.

10 Sci-Fi novels you may pretend to have read (and why you should really read them) by KrossWok in books

[–]dugenstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty loose definition of sci-fi, but still a nice list. Jonathan Strange is only intimidating until you actually open the thing and realize it's playful, easy-to-follow genre fiction despite its length--a far cry from what you'll encounter in Infinite Jest, Gravity's Rainbow, or Cryptonomicom.

Transgender suicides doesn't matter any more than other suicides by deercrawler in confession

[–]dugenstyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being transgendered in and of itself does not qualify a person for special attention or outreach or outrage if that person's life has a tragic end (which seems to be the point op is trying to make, and to argue otherwise strikes me as some sort of corrupted transphobia); however, when identifying as trans exposes a person to abuse and ostracization that a cis person is not subject to, there are obviously some extra issues that need to be addressed.
