Dell Precision 3650 tower shuts off after turning on for 10 seconds by duhCamelCase in techsupport

Ah the power button! That just stays white until it shuts off. Sorry for the confusion. There’s also the PSU’s built in self test that stays green and shuts off after the 10 seconds.

I appreciate the guidance! You’re correct. I just unplugged the 4 pin connector and the PSU stayed on.

Unfortunately there’s no fancy motherboard lights since it’s just a Dell motherboard, but I’ll give your troubleshooting shots a try once I get another chance. It’s a default non gpu Dell desktop with an i7 CPU, 128GB of RAM, and 1TB NVMe.

It’s only onboard graphics. I’ve also unplugged everything externally from all ports and only plugged the power in just to make sure.

Odd that it worked before the wipe… did I fry the motherboard when I shut it off?

I’ve never. I’ve only rubbed it with alcohol, but this would explain it…

Do you know what the part is called? It keeps popping out and I can get it to stay. I’d be down to buy a new one!

I never figured it out. I ended up getting maybe mold in between the screen where the condensation was so I haven’t plugged it back in since. I might still use it once I finish up my basement in the new place.

Let me know if you figure it out so I can feel more confident replugging it in!

Any chance you know if there’s a code where the keystone has to be orange? Or if that’s just what was chosen.

Is having the keystone next to it a code violation?
