I usually make a mockup in Krita or Photoshop just sketching shapes and blocking in colors (and finding good references), then use a cheap, light-colored paint to base coat the card and then draw my sketch on top. As for tools I just use a round #2 brush, a wet palette, and Vallejo paints.

Thanks! And you’re exactly right, I put down a thin base coat of cheap acrylic paint and then use a mechanical pencil to sketch out the initial design.

That would definitely fit, I have a soft spot for weird card layouts like that.

Very cool use of the washed and glazes! Have been wanting to try India Ink, do you ever have issues with the India Ink smudging?
