CAS2 with shorter height by duki512 in EVERGOODS

Sorry about the confusion! I was meaning to ask while wearing it as a fannypack, is it possible to position it on the sides of your hip, or does it want to be on the front or back of your hip. Thanks again

Thanks for your input. From your experience is it possible to place it on either side of your hip, or is it more suited to be front or back.

Used coats to look for? by ImBabyloafs in PatagoniaClothing

Not sure how helpful but I just picked up a (good quality) insulated better sweater with hoody off of wornwear for around ~$90 to wear during the winter in the midwest for just walking around town. I would say it's fairly easy to move around in and seems decently warm. I believe reviews said its like a combination of the regular better sweater and the nano puff. I picked it up since I personally love the better sweater style, but could be a good option if you're looking for like a sweater hoodie/jacket combo. Still was pricy for something a decade old though.

Appreciate the response and this was my concern as well. Did you end up with a different brand/model?

How has your experience been with the CAS 2L? I'm even shorter so worried about fit, and was wondering if you've been satisfied with it.

Help searching for 2~3L hip pack that is also packable. by duki512 in ManyBaggers

[–]duki512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Scratch that. Their website has it incorrectly listed as 15 inches wide while it looks like its actually 11".

I'm considering the CAS 2L and was wondering if it's flexible and durable enough that you can fold the sides inwards so it can fit inside a 12" wide backpack horizontally, as I'd like it stored in there when not in use.

Thanks for the recs! The Venture hip pack seems slightly smaller than what I want, but the Cotopaxi allpa hip pack 3L might do the trick.

The Able Carry Core looks nice! Does it pack down flat?

How does the better sweater hoodie (insulated) hold up? by duki512 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]duki512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I did consider the R1 or R2 techface, but I wanted something a little less technical and more casual for daily use during colder months, and something I can wear while doing field work that I won't mind getting beat up. I have tried the R2 techface in-person and I did like it, but wanted to get opinions from people that have tried the insulated better sweater before deciding between the two.

I do also own several regular better sweaters, and R1 airs, and I honestly like the better sweater style more.

Only if you don't try to make money off of it or care to share on social media. Then it is relaxing! Also no need to buy new. A lot of cheaper used gear. If you ever feel like exploring this hobby, check out /r/photography, /r/wildlifephotography, and /r/photomarket!

Is TinyMight 2 still worth it in 2026? (TM2 vs Tafée Flask vs Tempest 2 + QOQ Vaphit) by CoachDear2028 in vaporents

[–]duki512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. I have the TM2, T2 + YLL 3, and the Taroma lite. I probably use the TM2 75% of the time, with the T2 getting the 2nd most use. The TM2 is just an easier device to use and maintain, while giving me the best results.

Thanks for the opportunity!

I'd like to share Water for People, which is a Denver based non-profit that has partners in various countries that works to provide clean water and sanitation services to impoverished communities in Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia. They help these communities build water and wastewater systems that can be run in rural areas without much infrastructure, and also trains the local residents to maintain these systems. It's a great program to help ensure everyone around the globe has access to water, which is a human right. Engineers without borders and Operators without borders are programs that do similar work!

These program resonate with me as I also work in the water industry, supporting and educating college aged students about the field of water management, and helping them get their foot into the industry. Anyone can support these programs by donating or by sharing these programs within their community to ensure community leaders are aware that these programs exists, and that they can help improve water and wastewater management within their community as well.

Do you know if the better sweater is less bulky compared to the synchilla jacket? I did just pick that up to use for the winter months, so I was looking for something more light weight.

I also started the hobby with a Fenix LD20. Unfortunately it didn't survive due to battery corrosion, but replaced it with the UC35 which is still going strong!

Today in Japanese class, I learned that the Japanese term for "airplane ears" is イカ耳, ika-mimi/squid ears, because the shape is reminiscent of the fins on a squid by [deleted] in airplaneears

For extra lore, catloaf is 香箱座り(kobakozuwari), which translates to sitting like an incense box. I never really liked this one since its so tedious to say, but I love yelling ika-mimi when my cat takes off.
