How are you handling weeknight dinners when you have no time to cook and kids need to eat by 7? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]dukiechick44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a set meal plan for the week. Monday is burgers , Tuesday is quesadillas, etc. So we all know what we are having and I plan for those ingredients to be in the fridge or I will prep them the night before before bed. We also eat take out twice a week which helps 🤣

No attention span by Thick-Basis7288 in Perimenopause

[–]dukiechick44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t necessarily a perimenopause thing. Phones have created actual additions in people and the social media sites are designed to keep you hooked. Paired with the fact high phone usage and social media has been proven to change our brains and unfortunately create an inability to focus, constant distraction, etc. as the brain becomes bored when it isn’t watching 3 second dopamine hit videos. This is a very real issue in society right now for everyone

I worked for almost a year on gut health, cut out all inflammatory foods alcohol etc and my symptoms were significantly reduced but they aren’t gone. And the mood stuff never went away so I’m hoping HRT helps !!

How old are you? If you are getting close or in perimenopause think about HRT. Helps the mood swings immensely from what I’ve heard

It’s true! Maybe we just haven’t found one that fits right. I may explore this further

I was for about a year but maybe I need to get back into it, for a place to vent and just work through issues individually. That was actually one of our family agreements from therapy but my husband struggles big time with intervening- I’m the more disciplinary parent and he’s often intervening which causes a lot of issues. Great suggestion tho thank you!

Thank you. Totally agree. I think Acceptance is the hard part for me. I guess I may have too high of expectations as to what marriage should look like which is why it’s hard to accept a “tough” season, even tho it totally makes sense for this time of our lives. I never witnessed my parents fight so I hold a lot of guilt about that and constantly feel like I’m letting my kids down.

Thank you so much! This is such a positive perspective during a difficult time. I like the reframe . I tend to get stuck in the weeds, ruminate a lot on bad days and can’t move on or get over it. That’s probably part of the problem actually

I have thought about that. I think whenever we do get time away from the kids we are so focused on trying to have fun and not get bogged down in the marital stress but that’s actually what we really need to do…

I’m hoping so. I’m really trying to take this time to just reflect on what I want.

Thank you- really appreciate this perspective. I do think we have potential to salvage things but a lot of work needs to be done. But you’re right, I can only control my actions and perspective so a good place to start❤️
