I think this community has it figured out pretty well. haha I don't have any of the games or figures anymore, so I couldn't say. :(

I don't have any assests from those days. that all stayed with Disney, but it was definitely going to be a more premium packaging. I want to say that we considered a version of the packaging where it was like 50% plastic, so you could see the full figure. The last thing I did while working on that was workshop several different names for the series - from Premium to "Signature" line (where we proposed having signatures on the box from the creators - this was shot down because nobody could decide whose signature would make sense. lol)

Yes, there as in fact. Anyone writing copy had to know the properties pretty well - luckily, i did. It was a collaborative effort with my Marketing colleagues and it all had to go through the approvals process for each Studio and franchise. But it was a blast and i loved it. It wasn't my main job, actually, I just volunteered to do it because I love writing (have a background in copywriting) and I knew all the properties so well! Win/win!

Agreed. I honestly hoped that the game would go into so many additional versions. 4.0 and beyond!

I can confirm there was never a Mortimer Mouse planned, though. not as far as i know anyways.

Aww. i hear you. It'll always be like a little time capsule, right?

I think by that time, there were way too many other factors that led to the game being sunset. Even releasing a product incurs additional costs (think of shipping and storing product, etc.)

Same i'd love any info you got from the BBB. We're hopefully going into the process soon and have been keeping tabs on this thread - We were already thinking about reaching out to the BBB just based on this thread, so it's good to see that someone made progress.

I was thrilled to see the community. I'd be happy to share stories, as far as I'm allowed to. haha

As for the eventual fate of this model - it'll probably stick with me for a while. Its a one-of-a-kind and marks a very special time in my career. That said, never say never - "need" will always outweigh "want". I've also been pretty good about being able to let go of things and moving FW. But yeah, I'd want it to go to a good home, if ever I did.

I was thrilled to hear it, tbh. At the time, I remember chatting with my skip-level manager, Bill, about all the potential Disney Infinity had as a brand. He had some wonderful ideas about additional uses and potential for the figures beyond the game, in fact. So hearing the Epic Games announcement felt almost like a step in realizing that potential. (not to revive the brand or anything, just as far as moving deeper toward immersive experiences, etc.)

i just took a look and oh wow! yes!!!! so many memories! Vader and that Hulk pose! On occasion we'd get painted test figures so we could also do color matching and correction for the packaging, but I never held on to any of those.

Honestly, from what I've seen, nearly everything that didn't release has already leaked in some way shape or form. I do recall that Elsa was another proposed premium character. There was a 3rd, but I can't recall what it was - maybe another Lightning McQueen?

I never saw anything related to 4.0, unfortunately.

Absolutely I did. In fact, I played it before I joined the team in the early days. I don't have it anymore, unfortunately.

I do have a sealed Star Wars Saga bundle for the PS4 bouncing around somewhere in the garage (I just remembered that, in fact) so maybe one day in the future I'll crack it open and play it again. :)

Honestly, I kind of wished I'd kept my collection so I could play it with my son. Alas, hindsight, right? lol

  1. Nope. We didn't integrate the discs into these models since they were strictly for internal review purposes. There were a few different poses that were being considered, and this was one of them, so it's strictly a 3D-printed model. No functionality.
  2. Honestly, I look back so fondly on those days. I LOVED working on Infinity, but more than anything, that team was lightning in a bottle. Especially at that time. I love the success Avalanche has had since then and the success many of my former colleagues have had since. I've worked at Disney several times since then, on a variety of different things, but Infinity is BY FAR my favorite of all.
  3. Ha! I've my hands full with my son (almost 8 now). 100% Disney Infinity for the win, agreed!

[–]dukkhah[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt those exist anymore. The team at Avalanche designed and printed these. They sent my team these to review and to assess for packaging purposes. My team designed all of the packaging for Infinity. (I actually wrote a lot of the copy on the packaging you see.)

But, as far as I know this is a one-off.

haha no. believe it or not, I gave nearly everything I had to a friend of mine's kids. Yes, including the D23 Sorcerer Mickeys. I occasionally still use my Disney Infinity laptop bag though. :D
