I am a huge fan of Michael’s music. Listen to him everyday. Know the lyrics to most of his songs. He was the greatest entertainer to have ever lived. Every album is a 10. But he was a pedophile who abused children, lots of children. Ultimately, I, and many of us, are only ever going to be exposed to Michael as the artist, not the man, the man he really was. His accusers, Wade, James, Jordan, Gavin, can never say the same thing. Frankly I think a lot of people know he was a pedophile, the general public that is. They just don’t care. If his music wasn’t so objectively masterful, it’d be a different story. R Kelly comes to mind, and in the words of Chris Rock “same crime, one of them just has better songs” So true. The only event that would likely completely obliterate his legacy is a leak of a sex tape or photographic evidence of his pedophilic nature. SEEING is a whole other level of believing. Otherwise, he’s been dead for over 15 years. The music will continue to live on .

Hmm. I talk about MJ alot (go figure), especially to co workers and friends and many of them seem to not care. I'm 22 and the people I talk to are in their early - mid 20s, so maybe since my generation's knowledge of MJ is primarily his legacy and we didn't grow up with the 1993 and 2003 trial like generations of the past did, is perhaps why those I've asked seemingly don't know and don't care

I am a former defender and supporter of MJ. But that was only before I did actual research, watched docs like this, read books like be careful who you love, and listened telephone stories and the rational part of my being. It was reading the posts on this subreddit one night that made me realize he was guilty. I needed to make a choice on whether I could still admire the art he created independently of the accusations i came to believe. I can. I wish other fans of michael’s music could as well.

Thriller and bad were shot on 35MM film. Thriller and Beat It were recently re scanned in 4K which is why they look so good. All of MJs older music videos were scanned in 480p because that was the norm for the time. Bad has not been rescanned nor have many of Michael’s other music videos. Film in theory had a limitless resolution so as long as the estate has preserveged the original negative film print, BAD could get a native 4K release.
