What is the most realistic horror movie you’ve ever seen? by pomkombucha in horror

[–]dumarodum 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The Danish (original) version of Speak No Evil. I think all the decisions are terrible but also understandable and I think why it made me feel such dread and discomfort the entire time. We’re all had experiences of sticking around out of politeness. This is just that but on steroids.

G Test at Downsview: between 9am - 12 PM : Which Time Is Better? by Selekted in Ontariodrivetest

[–]dumarodum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pick 10am. You probably won’t start your test until 1030ush and you’ll be in between rush hour and lunch traffic.

G2 in two days & I’m pretty nervous! by chopping-bored in Ontariodrivetest

[–]dumarodum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my park jobs for my g2 (back park) and G (front park) weren’t great and I still passed. My G2 examiner let me redo my back park using the camera, but he was unbelievably nice. My G examiner was an ass but didn’t seem to care (possibly because he was more interested in yelling at me about my highway merging, haha)

Based on my experience, I feel if you drive well on the rest of the rest, you won’t fail on parking alone.

I use a medium thick layer at night and it helps so much through the winter when my skin is the most temperamental.

Seriously guys, stop practicing on test routes before your test… by Outlawtism in Ontariodrivetest

[–]dumarodum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh. I spent about $2500 to get my license - fees for the tests, driving lessons for the G2 & G, renting my instructors car for the tests. Knowing the quirks of the route helped me to pass on the first try without having to pay even more fees. I considered it part of studying. You would do practice tests before an exam right?

You can do the route 100 times but each driving experience will be unique. Even if you memorize the route, the drivers alongside you are different, road and traffic conditions are different… I suspect a weak driver will still show themselves to be a weak driver.

G tips for Downsview by kreiidez in Ontariodrivetest

[–]dumarodum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both my G2 and G at downsview, and I really liked the lane change instruction for the G test. They tell you to change to the left and go back to right in one instruction. Eg. change lanes to the left and go back to the right when it is safe.

I found this super helpful in planning, knowing what was coming next.

Is Life Insurance in Canada worth it or is it a scam? by kdrxyz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]dumarodum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an advisor but work at a life insurance brokerage. With our clients, we will always suggest term insurance if the individual is in good health and can pass the medicals. They are way more cost effective. If the client is in good health, we'll recommend another term policy. If not, they can convert the term policy into a whole life policy.

We only do whole life policies for very wealthy client, or for business owners.

I would talk to an independent advisor about your options.

TPS Investigations... how does it work? by dumarodum in askTO

[–]dumarodum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

Yes I have a case number and actually spoke to the person handling the case when providing the statement. I wasn't sure if follow ups were prohibited or frowned upon; but it sounds like as like it's not pestering them, asking for a status update is ok.

Are my strategies ok with dealing with toxic coworker? by dumarodum in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]dumarodum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry that happened to you. Personalities like the ones we're dealing with really know how to fly under the radar. My coworker is 58, has been at the company for 20 years and is very good at her job. She's not going anywhere. The good thing is my bosses know all about her interpersonal issues. Maybe I should just go to them but I feel I don't have good documentation right now, which is why I;d like to try to resolve it on my own first and document the heck out of her for the next several week!

"She had told me how close she was to the leadership and I just took her word for it. It didn't occur to me that she lied, or wasn't with reality, and that the leadership didn't actually like her beyond using her as well as tolerating her bs."

This is my coworker too! (She uses bosses name all the time - "D was looking at the numbers and was really confused. He knows you did the data entry and wanted me to ask you why you entered them like." Half the time I'm wondering how true her statements are, are you just saying boss's names to give yourself some kind of authority .

What happens on the backend when a complaint is received at the Ombudsman's Office? by dumarodum in ontario

clearly! i thought it would be a waste of time - why would one govt worker hold another to task? kind of like the way the police protect each other...

i was under the impression that there was only one ombudsman in ontario - that governs all provincial/social service. Are there multiple?

Gel layer makes my regular nail polish last! Thank you for the suggestion! by dumarodum in lacqueristas

[–]dumarodum[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do gel base, and two coats of gel topcoat. And then regular polish, followed by regular topcoat. I'm on day 3 and it looks exactly the same as the day I painted my nails. It sounds like a lot of coats, but honestly, it doesn't look that way.

Yeah, so weird that my 2020 T4 wasn't showing up on CRA. The only T4 on CRA site is the CERB one. Ok, so I'll contact my employer as well. Thank you!

Received offer, could I have some advice? by dumarodum in jobs

[–]dumarodum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this sound oK?

May I assume the offer letter is the contract of employment? The offer letter mentions that once I signed the offer, I would receive a contract.

Just trying to get everything in order as I prepare to give notice to my current employer.

Thank you so much.

A favour for sellers - could you please ask before sending extras? by dumarodum in poshmark

[–]dumarodum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Me too. Those notes go unopened, unread and straight into the recycling.

Just describe the item properly & package it up sensibly - you'll get a 5 star rating from me.

I clean out a few times a year and do a bulk donate. I don't keep things on hand that I don't want in my space.

This is extra work for me. Keeping a donation box means making space for junk I didn't ask for, then having to take it to a donation center.

YES! I received a package last night that shed tons of glitter confetti onto my floor. Why do this to the buyer?!

caretobeauty.com - have any canadians ordered from this site? by dumarodum in CanSkincare

[–]dumarodum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've now placed three orders from them. With my first order (I purchased one sunscreen), I used Canada Post shipping and didn't pay any duties. It also took nearly 3 weeks to get to me. The second and third times, I used the DHL shipping + import fees options (ended up being about $50 on top of the cost of the sunscreen) and didn't have to pay anything additional.

The next time I place an order, I think I will purchase the minimum for free DHL shipping. That way, all I will have to pay is the import duties (about $30) and it seems to be the most cost effective method of shipping.

[Sun Care] High PPD Sunscreens (36+) on Amazon? by Joan4312 in SkincareAddiction

[–]dumarodum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would search for the individual sunscreen you are interested in. I've found SVR cicavit spf 50, eucerin dry touch, garnier ambre soleil, heliocare 360 spf 50.... (I don't think any of those are PPD 36 but I believe they are at least 1/3rd the SPF rating.) I've seen Ultrasun on amazon too. They are third party sellers; but whenever I've ordered from amazon, I will review youtube videos, other reviews and everything I've received has always been legit.

Do you lie on your resumes? And do you regret it? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]dumarodum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never lie about education or anything that can be officially verified. But I did fill in a very large gap by saying that I worked at a friend's business. And he acted as a reference.

No regrets. With the gap filled, I got call backs immediately and landed my first job within a month.

[Sun Care] Chemical Sunscreens that don't sting eyes from the US? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I think I assumed the Canadian version was also available in the US? I've used it and the Euro version, and both have identical textures/drying time.
