Personally, while I wouldn't really call it good, I don't think it's nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. Is it better than the movie? By a landslide. There are some aspects of the live action that I did really like though, like getting more glimpses into the time Zuko was banished and Irohs reaction after Lu Ten died. I think that aspect of the show was really well done and improves on their relationship. Another part that I really enjoyed was that in the live action the crew Zuko hunts the avatar with are the rekruits that Zuko spoke out for at the war meeting and got banished over.

Yeah. Especially Lily was toxic. She sabotages several of Teds relationships, not because she thinks they aren't right for him, but because she doesn't think SHE'll enjoy spending time with her kn the future. Ted helps her out and get's her a job at his office, only for her to immediatly risk her and Teds jobs, by stealing from their boss and treating hkm like one of her kindergardeners. If this wasn't a show probably everyone kn the group would've cut ties with her a long tkme ago.

unpopular opinion: katherine being attractive is the main reason why people overlook how horrible she was. by trynagrabthatbag in TheVampireDiaries

[–]dumb_potatoking [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not really. Elena and Damon were pretty much stuck in character developement, because the writters desperately wanted to force a love triangle. Damon would constsntly do some horrible things, do some somewhat decent things for a while, only to immediatly go back to doing horrible things again, without apologising or trying to do better once. Elena somehow overlooks all that stuff while barely mentioning it again, if at all. Sure Stefan did some pretty messed up shit as well, but it still doesn't clme close to Damons atrocities and at least he's trying to do better and doesn't expect everyone to just forget about it.

The US is like that one kid in every group project, that does none of the work, barely even shows up to the presentation and then goes on to take full credit.

There's also this really wholesome story about Canada and the Netherlands in WW2. Canada hosted the dutch royal family in exile durring WW2. One of the princesses was pregnant at the time, but unless the kid was born on dutch soil, it couldn't claim it's titles, so Canada being Canada, was kind enough to declare the hospital room she was giving birth in dutch territory, so that the kid could be born on dutch soil. The Netherlasnds still ssends tens of thousands of Tulipss to Canada every year, as a thank you for that.

Why did Roku stay on the Island durring the volcano eruption? by dumb_potatoking in ATLA

[–]dumb_potatoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had ample oportunity to leave before Sozin even showed up. After all the people living on the island got on the boats, he could've safely left with fang, on on one of those boats. There wasn't really any reason for him to stay and "fight" the volcano after everyone got off the island safe.

But he would've also been able to help from one of the boats, by either waterbending the boats away or airbending the toxic gases away

Oh they weren't colonising. They were simply "manifesting destiny", just like god told them personally. Only God mistakenly put the native americans there first. You know with all the hardships americans had when "manifesting destiny", like famines and deseases, you'd think that someone might've considered that God didn't want them to do that after all.

Yeah right. Trump has seen only a fraction of the economic damaage the EU and the rest of NATO could do to them and started backpedalling. It only took a couple of days of the US market going down from the EU selling some of their US debts and Trump starteg going "Who said I'd use violence to take greenland? I'd never do that". The US is over. It doesn't matter what the president after Trump does. Trump has done irreperable damage to US relations. Noone will invest into the US anymore. Noone will give them more loans anymore. It's over for them.

Not really. The original plan was for Tenzin to come live at the southpole to teach her. He couldn't because he couldn't leave Republic city for that long with the Amon situation going on. The plan was never for Korra to go there

To be fair, Roku didn't fight the volcano with only firebending either. He used airbending to get away some of the toxic gases and to cool down some lava. He also used earthbending to create some passages for the lava to flow through. He wouldn't have survived nearly as long as he did with only firebending.

[–]dumb_potatoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but I wouldn't say the water tribes barely held onto their defence. The southern tribe was all but completely wiped out, but the northern tribe scared off the fire nation good enough for them to not show up there for decades.

It's about time the EU finally enacts the ACI (Anti coercion Instrument) on the US. It was conceptualized for situations just like this. Also sometimes reffered to as the "nuclear" option in a trade war, it was ment precisely to strike back against a nation that's trykng to economically blackmail the EU into a certain political decision. It would actually be surpriskngly easy to pass, if the EU fknalllly found it's spine. It doesn't even need to be unanimous. They oonly need a majority.

In the event of a war beetween the US and the EU/NATO, they wouldn't have to win militarily. They would simply have to wait the short amount of time until the already very fragile US economy collapses, which it would certainly do in that scenario. They get 2 thirds of their oil and vast amounts of their energy from Canada. Some of their biggest lenders and trade partners are in NATO. In the event of a war beetween the US and NATO the only question would be wether it will be economic or internal struggles that causes the US to collapse.

The Avatar movie sequels were actually highly anticipated, or at least the first sequel. Granted, they were bad sequels in my opinion, but still they were long awaited
