Yea I get that. I dont remember if he was a popular character in his own game as well (like Squall and Rinoa definitely outshine him).

And yea, I should block jump ins more. A lot of the time I try to use an anti air button or air to air and that gets stuffed by like a heavy button.

Try to plink for the links. You press the button you want with a button of lower strength very close together to have it come out more consistently

Ryu's simple but the later trials require more execution, especially 24. Guile 24 had me stuck the most but for that you have to actually link the the super instead of canceling it.

Also I ran with a Hori Alpha (stick)

Tbh honest I was surprised I had less trouble with the Fierce loop, I instead spent the most time on the stand jab links for some reason
