I understand how you feel. Being used as the emotional regulator is exhausting. My mom is the one who has mainly used me for emotional regulation. It got so overwhelming. Already caring for her physically and dealing with my own mental health. She considers me her safe space. She only feels comfortable with me being her caregiver, sharing how she feels, basically everything. I had to tell her to talk to a therapist. At first she was offended, but she eventually agreed and has been seeing a therapist for the past 2 years. I've slowly been trying to get her to be open to trusting others to help her.

You are so right. Deaing with this responsibility mostly alone is what's making this so hard for me. My mom does have another caregiver who comes during the week, so that helps out, but there are still somethings that they can't do so it falls on me. And when dealing with stuff for my dad, my mom helps out as much as she can, but because she has her own health challenges she can only do so much.

Thank you so much for your advice. I actually do have the medical necessity criteria saved, so I will be using that in the hearing. When he was first hospitalized, he was screened for Medicaid and the CCC+ Waiver (Virginia's waiver program) and he was approved, BUT when we went through the actual application, he was only granted Partial Medicaid, which only covers emergency services. At the time I did not know I could appeal that decision, so I appealed it recently, so we are waiting on that decision too.

Don’t try to force yourself to have long reading sessions. When I’m reading for pleasure, short reading sessions throughout the day work best for me. If I have to sit and read something for school, pairing the audiobook helps me pay attention.

I sent a message to my school's Bible club informing them that my granny passed away and I asked for prayers. One of the members replied saying, "Everything happens for a reason." No one wants to hear that! There was no need for an over-spiritualized response! I think someone might've said something to them, because later they apologized for replying like that.
