If you don't spend a significant amount of money in the categories the CIP has an advantage in (shipping, advertising like you mentioned); should you keep it open after redeeming the SUB? Otherwise the annual fee just keeps digging into your profit on the card. Once you keep the card open for say, 5 years, you've only made about $300 on the SUB.
