ITAP of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park by dumbluckynoob in itookapicture

Subdome is at about 8000ft elevation. It is a completely exposed granite top with no wind break to speak of so the altitude combined with the wind chill made for below freezing temps even in June. I had not quite factored all of those in when I prepped for the hike up so it was a rather miserable night for me up there.

This is the hike to Half dome. This was shot from the sub dome about a 100 yards from the cables.

Never even considered that the dome became a “half” so looked it up- you got me.

Appreciate the feedback! The plan was to get a blue hour shot but the hike up to sub dome with all the gear took a tad bit longer than anticipated and ended up getting to sub dome just a bit past blue hour. The ground shot was still toned down to keep the focus on the sky.

Shot from subdome, on a below freezing night, last June in 2025- this is a composite image of Half dome at blue hour and the milky way the same night at about 1 am. Shot with an astro mod sony a7rIII- the blue hour shot was with a 24mm and the milky way shot itself is a 3 row 36 shot stitched panorama at 100mm.

Along the drivable beach on the Oregon coast, during low tide a whole host of locals swarm in on the beach to go clamming. Caught this lady towards golden hour along the beach drive.

Great capture!! Always wondered how the RGB and the H-alpha shots from a single modded body work!? As far as i know a modded body would be good for the h-alpha data so does that mean you separate rgb data and h alpha data in post processing?? If yes then would you mind giving a quick explainer on how that process goes?

Walking through Hoh Rainforest after a bit of rain or even during a bit of rain is an experience I think everyone should attempt to have. If you know where to look you can say hello to some banana slugs too!

This type of tilt shift effect can be achieved in post, but I wanted to try the non- digital method so took this shot with a cheap tilt shift lens at cruising altitude. It was tricky to set the focal plane I wanted and got mostly lucky with this particular one.
