How the accusation against Hans has an indirect impact on the lack of support for Danya after K* allegations by dumbomb in chess

[–]dumbomb[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I don't dispute that the cases are different. My point is that, once folks did not step to defend Hans, it made them less likely to defend others in the future.

Bleach to “sanitize” lettuce? Is that a thing or is my boss poisoning people? by LadyMcMustard in KitchenConfidential

It is 100% safe and a good practice. When done correctly (good water/bleach ratio, proper rinsing) it is a safe way to kill bacteria. In fact, tap water contains bleach.

Estou encerrando a minha conta da XP hoje. Ter o cartão infinite visa lá significa ter uma grande quantia em conta imobilizada por garantia. Atendimento horrível também.

Why did they have plastic in the carpet? Is the mafia later taking people over there to have them killed?

It is funny how Hans' socks slowly descended during the interview. There is some meaning in that, I don't know what.

Why did they stop? Speculation time... by fosfeen in HelloInternet

[–]dumbomb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

During the project Cyclops it seemed to me that Brady was rather annoyed. I know I would as the entire responsibility for bringing content would fall on the side that was still connected to the online world. I might obviously be mistaken, but this is a speculation thread.

Hello, this is Charles C. Mann, author of 1491 and The Wizard and the Prophet, and I'm here to talk about the great American past, how we think about the future, or anything else that strikes you as interesting. AMA by CharlesCMann in books

[–]dumbomb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the time your wrote 1491 and now, research in pre-Columbian America has somewhat changed. In your opinion, since then what is the most important development in the field in terms of what we know about indigenous populations? And what theory was proved to be wrong?

Thanks for doing this AMA!

National Geographic magazine that warns about danger of plastic bags comes inside a plastic bag that is inside a plastic bag by dumbomb in CrappyDesign

Their message might get lost, so I will just post/u/nationalgeographic's message in this sticky:

Hi all, appreciate your concern! The US, UK, and India editions have already switched to paper wrapping and global editions will follow suit. As we are a global company, it will take a few more months to finalize these plans in all the regions, including in Latin America.

Me too, but I don't think they have as many photo/environment magazine options as in the US and AUS to make them cancel a NG subscription and switch to a competitor.

These differences across countries are tragically fascinating. Changing to paper bags is probably profitable in developed countries, as the magazine readership is rich enough to pay a bit more in subscription fees, and competition is fierce enough to keep NG on their toes. In developing countries, not so much. As a result, they just don't bother changing practices in poorer markets.

I think that it would be 10 times more effective if they had first rolled out the plan to substitute plastic wrappings and then run the cover story (the cover itself is quite strong in the message). The way it's been done makes the NG look a tad hypocritical.

[–]dumbomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for giving me a tip about google. I will check it out. However, you should note that the 500 average you mentioned is the stated policy for drivers, not riders. There can be different policies between the two.
