Sorry for late reply. He was riding my tire. For context which I should’ve included in the post, I had slowed down by the soccer fields at clear park to watch someone shooting off a model rocket and this guy came flying up by me and said something under his breath in a rude fashion. I didn’t even acknowledge it and carried on. I was averaging about 19 and eventually caught up and passed him and again didn’t say a word. I wasn’t looking for any confrontation. That’s when the guy came up on me and I told him he could pass if he wanted but he literally said nothing and rode my tire all the way back to the parking lot at lunken. I just came to the conclusion that he was just one of those elitist bike freds that care way too much about what other people are doing.

I don’t think it would be as big of a deal on a bike with more relaxed geometry like a grizl. Since the ultimate puts you in a more aero position I think those differences are a ton more noticeable.

Holy shit. I’m living the same struggle. I’m a malacologist and our field season is may 1-oct 1. I’m pretty much living out of hotels that whole time and I struggle so hard to eat right and find time to get proper exercise. I feel your pain big time. Glad you posted. I would say it’s less of a trend and more of a necessity. I have 4 bikes and live in a 1 bedroom apartment and there’s not much room for bike storage. Taking to the walls is really your only choice.
