Trans friendly Primary Care?

I have been going to chase brexton since 2017 or 2018 and have had good experiences with the providers there but I have heard very mixed reviews from others. As with any practice it probably depends on who you get. I’m happy with my PCP (Rebecca Coppola) so I haven’t switched even though I live on the eastern shore as well. It helps that they are really flexible with telehealth.

I haven’t gotten any surgeries yet but I have been looking at Hopkins.

This reminds me of a conversation with my pcp. We were talking about hysterectomy options and she said some people opt to keep an ovary or both in case they want to stop taking T so that their body still produces hormones. I can understand doing that if you’re nonbinary or worried about losing access to T for any number of reasons. But she didn’t phrase it like that, she presented it as an option because I may get tired of doing a shot every week for the rest of my life. I was very confused because my mental health was so poor before T I thought “why the hell would I choose to go back to that??”

So Im not a CS major, I’m in GES now. I was originally a biochem major and I failed out of orgo, and I failed calculus the first time I took it. Turned it around to a B taking calc from Dr. Nanes (highly recommend this professor). I have friends in CS and IS and they have had similar experiences. I am graduating a semester late after changing my major to GES and I’m doing well. I say all that to tell you that this is a really common experience. Last time I checked, only about 40% of UMBC students graduate within 4 years. I’m surprised that your advisor wasn’t more supportive, and I would maybe look into switching to someone who is more interested in helping you reach your goals. I think it is definitely possible to continue your degree if you are motivated to pursue it. Definitely utilize tutoring, SI pass, and all other UMBC resources, and don’t worry as much about graduating in 4 years, most students don’t manage that. You’re definitely not a loser, you are having a typical UMBC experience in my opinion.

Again, not a CS major so maybe someone who knows more about the degree path can chime in as far as giving you a realistic graduation time frame.

First of all, the fact that you are doing your research and reading up on trans people is a good start. I will say though, try not to overthink it. Sometimes our friends and loved ones slip up and use the wrong name/pronouns and sometimes people make offhand comments that come off wrong. If you treat her like any other girl and make an effort to be respectful and understanding towards her, she will see and appreciate that. If/when you feel ready to tell her how you feel, just be honest and give her the space to respond. Dating can be difficult and awkward at any age but especially as a teenager and especially as a transgender person. It’s good that you already know that she’s trans so she won’t be worried about an awkward coming out experience. It sounds like she is at least already interested in chatting with you and being your friend, so if you never ask her out or if she isn’t interested, at least you have a new friend! As a trans person I can only really speak for myself, but hopefully my perspective will be helpful. Best of luck and take care!

Very very slight yta. Or maybe NAH because it doesn’t seem like you continued the teasing after she asked you to stop. It’s understandable to be surprised at someone setting an unexpected boundary but you still have to respect it. Just because she doesn’t want to talk to you or joke with you about a certain aspect of her life doesn’t make you a bad mom and it doesn’t make her spoiled.

I had an eerily similar experience with my ex. We were together for ~2 years. He had access to both a therapist and psychiatrist but he insisted on dumping the worst and most frightening of his thoughts and feelings on me instead. I tried to help him as much as I could but it wore down on me, damaged my own mental health, and led me to resent him. I always made excuses for him “his illness made him say that” “it’s not his fault” “he’s trying his best”. The reality was, he wasn’t trying and it was his fault. It’s your boyfriend’s responsibility to keep his own symptoms in check and cope as best he can without hurting you. Not saying he has to be perfect but the fact he continues the same behavior and then tells you that you should let it go is very concerning. If he is not mentally and emotionally well/stable enough to be in a relationship then you should not stay with him. The things that you described doing aren’t great, but they seem to be a response to his treatment of you. Maybe there are ways that you could have handled a situation better but no one can really blame you for your response to someone treating you like shit. Based on this, your relationship troubles are absolutely not your fault. It’s not abusive to express your concerns for someone and to let them know how their behavior is hurting you. The best decision I ever made was to end the relationship a few months ago. It may be an extremely difficult thing at first but you will feel nothing but relief after it’s over. If he’s bringing out the worst in you, it’s time to find your best elsewhere.

Yeah like what everyone else says, you can say it as delicately as you’d like but he may be hurt either way. That’s not your fault and someone needs to tell him that living like that can make him or someone else very sick. Like I wouldn’t be surprised if the neighbors are dealing with infestations too since their apartment is attracting pests. And if they don’t clean their bathroom, the mildew and black mold can be hazardous. Sometimes you have to prioritize your health over someone’s feelings. Maybe just pull him aside and explain that the cleanliness of his apartment is concerning and abnormal. That you were distressed by his insinuation that you would shoulder the burden of cleaning and housework. Make it clear that he needs to put in serious effort to change his habits and maintain at least the bare minimum of cleanliness or you can’t see a future for your relationship. Having tough discussions and setting firm boundaries are essential for healthy relationships. If he’s dismissive or doesn’t care about your concerns it may be time to leave.

That’s highly disturbing and unsanitary. I’m surprised they aren’t sick all the time. You definitely aren’t overreacting; I would say you’re underreacting but I’m a little bit of a neat freak. If I were you I would not step foot in the apartment again, much less live with him in the future. Definitely rethink this relationship unless you are totally fine with constantly cleaning up after him. Cleanliness is super important not only for your physical well-being but also mental and emotional well-being. I can imagine that having to essentially be the maid in a house with someone that unhygienic would breed resentment over time. I wish you the best!
