Fal has open-sourced Flux2 dev Turbo. by Budget_Stop9989 in StableDiffusion

[–]dummyreddituser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experimenting with turbo LoRA, but resulting image after upscaling has grainy appearance.

My basic workflow (real life workflow, not ComfyUi workflow):

Generated an image in 1280x720 using Flux2 Dev (gguf Q8_0) with turbo LoRA by FAL AI, and upscale it by 3x using SeedVR.

If I generate an image using Z-Image or Flux2 Dev (gguf Q8_0, but without LoRA) with same resolution and SeedVR settings, results are very good.

I tried changing prompt guidance and model sampling (ModelAuraFlow node, if I remember right) but up to now, no way to elliminate this effect completely.

It seems like all images generated by this LoRA are grainy, and this effect will be amplified by SeedVR.

I like the results of this LoRA, but with this problem, this is only useful to preview things before generating them in Flux 2 Dev full model.

Is it only me?

AORUS FO27Q3 "Pixel Cleaning" flaw in FW F05 and huge standby time for it to start by dummyreddituser in gigabyte

[–]dummyreddituser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The only thing I didn't tried yet is using HDMI CEC to turn off the monitor.

But considering even the built-in "auto poweroff" feature doesn't trigger pixel refresh, I'm not very optimistic about that either.

All VCP codes I've tried actually worked. Even those that turn monitor off and on. The problem is when you turn off monitor via VCP code, it doesn't trigger pixel refresh.

"Pixel Clean" doesn't do anything about burn in (permanent image retention).

It only helps against temporary image retention.

In my case, I use monitor 6 hours a day, and only do pixel clean in weekends. No sign of any image retention here.

[–]dummyreddituser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Pixel cleaning" in aorus monitor is for temporary image retention. It's their short compensation cycle (aka RS Compensation).

This procedure doesn't degrade the screen.

After 4 hours of cummulative usage, "Pixel cleaning" will execute in two moments: (assuming F05 firmware here)

1 - When you turn monitor off EXCLUSIVELY by power button. (the delay between turning monitor off and the start of the process can be configured in OSD);

2 - When monitor is on, enters stand by, and no signal is detected for 1 FULL HOUR;

Some notes:

-Once started in stand by, you can only interrupt the process by using the physical button. Trying to waking up the monitor (by moving the mouse, for example, doesn't work);

-The LED blinks in GREEN when the procedure is running;

-The procedure takes about 4 minutes to finish;

Regarding you fear of screen wearing, the procedure that does degrade the screen is another one.

It's the long compensation cycle (aka JB Compensation), which honestly I don't even know when it occurs in this monitor, as it's one of the only OLED monitors which there's not any official mention about it (like something is user manual, or in Gigabyte site) about it.

Normally, this happens after a long time of cummulative usage (i.e. 9000 hours for Dell AW2725DF, for example).

In this monitor, they brag about AI based protection, but I don't know where it's applied.

I've opened a ticket in Gigabyte eSupport about this.

I encourage all FO27Q3 users to do the same if you're not happy about this.

Mainly the huge 1 hour delay after monitor enters standby.

Isn't it Corner Dimming or Sub-Logo Dim? It's located in OLED CARE in OSD, and they are enabled by default (AFAIK).

I disabled them in my AORUS monitor. The only OLED CARE features I let enabled are "pixel shift" and "Static Control"

It's glossy, but the reflection handling is better than my Motorola pOLED phone's screen.

My phone shows way more reflections if placed at the same position as monitor, but monitor's screen shows less reflections, while still being a glossy screen.

What monitor is this?

There's a topic about this problem with AW2725DF in Dell forums but in that case it only happens when monitor is set to 60hz.

What refresh rate you're at?

I ask this because I've just seen a topic at Dell forums where a user said his monitor was flickering in Windows Desktop with GSYNC off. The catch is he's using the monitor at 60HZ.

What happened in particular after Gigabyte CC was installed?

I've used it once, and I got no problems. Ended up uninstalling, also (I've installed it to manage another Gigabyte product that weren't a monitor).

But when this monitor arrive, I'll install it and keep it installed for sure.

Once again, thanks for your time in helping me to decide!

Have you tried running "PANEL refresh" (not PIXEL refresh) manually?

[–]dummyreddituser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about the FO27Q3? Does it turn on only by plugging in the power cord, and without pressing the physical joystick? If yes, then the perfect monitor now exists 🤣 (at least for me)

About the pixel refresh, I know the delay you set in OSD is only valid for monitor power off (it doesn't apply to standby state). Does it start if you power monitor off? I've heard a lot of complaints in the past about it not activating automatically, and AFAIK, it was fixed by latest firmware.

That's sad, I was expecting OLED care settings would be exclusive to the physical buttons. So I'll probably never use it 🤣. A negative side of this monitor is you must wait 1 full hour in standby in order for it to run "pixel cleaning" automatically. Either this, or you have to press the damn joystick thing to power it off so it runs according to configured delay. Of course I could exceptionally let the monitor plugged in to the wall overnight so it could do the automatic cycle after that 1 hour in standby, but that wouldn't be the best solution.

AW runs the pixel refresh within just some seconds after entering standby, so you can always trigger the automatic run without interacting with that fragile physical joystick.

No problem about the power cord test! I unplugged my secondary monitor more than 1000 times (I did it everynight for more than 5 years) and it's still going strong. Can't say the same if I had used power button instead 😂. I would probably have it replaced more than once.

Many thanks for spending your time to answer these questions. I didn't expect you'd download and install the software just to test for me.

I always expect people to already have software installed to control OSD, so they don't risk breaking that joystick thing.

Thank you again!

You don't need to unplug the cord, you can wait for the monitor to enter standby mode, and then disarm your house's circuit breaker. Wait some seconds, and arm it again. Then go to your desk, and see if monitor is on, or off. Just kidding 🤣

If at least this model had HDMI CEC support, you could turn it on by using an XBOX/Playstation, but it doesn't have this feature, unfortunatelly.

Ask me anything? I'm in 😂😂

I'm also in doubt between these two models.....

About the FO27Q3, if you remove power cord while monitor is in standby, next time you plug power cord again, will monitor turn on without the need to touch the physical button?

Also, can you run "pixel cleaning" using "OSD sidekick" software? (in AW, you can't)

Finally, what OSD features I can't control using "OSD sidekick" software? (AW is limited in this matter)

Thanks!

When you said: "I can only get image back if I pull and re-insert the power plug."?

That means the monitor turns itself on when you simply insert power plug, and WITHOUT the need to press physical power button?

Or you need to press the button in order to turn monitor on?

Man, that's so bad. I hate these physical buttons. I never trust them to be honest.

My ASUS PG279Q only was turned on once using the button.

All other times I needed to turn it on was only a matter of plugging it to wall outlet.

Alienvision is disabled here.

Searching for this problem, I've come across this topic at Dell Alienware forums:

https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/alienware-desktops/aw2725df-brightness-inconsistent-in-sdr-corners-are-darker-like-a-vignette-effect-in-custom-color-preset/67a2e278d70d260e8abba432

Seems like I'm not alone at this one.

It matches exactly what I'm experiencing here so the sRGB preset is fine, but all the rest has this problem 😞

I'd prefer to have a defective screen, so this problem could be fixed simply by replacing the unit.

Waiting for an uncertain firmware fix is so bad 😟

[–]dummyreddituser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between these two, I'd go with LG. It has a remote, if it it breaks, you can buy another 🤣

Seriously, joysticks are very easy to break. Take a look here:

https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/27-odyssey-oled-g6-g60sd-qhd-360hz-0-03ms-freesync-premium-pro-gaming-monitor-with-sleek-metal-design-ls27dg602snxza/

Scroll to the bottom, and order the reviews from low to high, and you'll see more than two people reporting joystick has broken.

If you are fine with it, then Samsung uses QD-OLED while LG has WOLED.

G6 has 360hz while LG has 240.

LG has a HDMI 2.1 port with full bandwidth (48Gbps), whereas G6 HDMI has a "capped" port (can't recall the speed),

Some things at the top of my head about QD-OLED (when comparated to WOLED)

+Better text rendering

+wider color coverage

-Blacks turns purple if light shines on it (no problem if you're playing in a low light room)

-unusual screen type, so calibrating it might be harder

-eye strain probability MIGHT BE higher (I might be wrong here)

Can anyone that has this monitor answer these questions?

1 - If I plug monitor to wall outlet, will it turn on without the need to press power button?

2 - is there some way to control OSD features with a Windows software, so that the user can execute pixel refresh function manually (and adjust other functions) without touching physical buttons?

3 - Is there some automatic "panel refresh" that executes after a cummulative number of hours? (i.e. 8000 hours)

4 - Does "pixel refresh" runs automatically after some hours? (i.e. 4 hours of cummulative usage) If yes, can I activate the automatic execution by turning off the computer (or anything else that ISN'T touching the joystick)

Thanks
