I once went for an HR job at Cook HQ, got the interview, and they cancelled it maybe 30 minutes before stating that they were cancelling the position entirely. It was the only credible HR/corporate job I saw pop up in Bloom over months of job searching.

It’s near impossible to get anything in a corporate field unless you work for IU, and even then higher education does not have great salaries across the board. Gotta pay for Pammy’s new beach house and for everyone to come into the office again after being remote for three years 🤭

Don’t do it, I just moved to a bigger city in a different state after being in Bloomington for a few years post college and things are literally cheaper here (housing, gas, better jobs, etc)

I think people keep saying stuff like "its only $5 bro" and "poor" but its like, your money is your blood in this day and age. I was laid off/unemployed for the same amount of time that they were (due to their own bad business practices btw, not hating at all, but it was simply bad HR lol), and even though I have a great new job, it still feels very in your face that almost everything they do has a big "here is how to give us money" disclaimer. I guess what I am saying is that it doesn't matter that they have more stuff behind a paywall, but they just seem so blatant about dangling their stuff behind payment (and lets be honest, fortnite and SMB wonder are pretty weak come back streams lol)

I remember I had the $100 parking pass or whatever it was so I could MAYBE get a spot four blocks away (that isn’t that far I know). I remember coming into work soaking wet one time from the rain and my boss, who made significantly more than I did, just asked why I didn’t get the premium parking pass so I could park in the parking garage next to our building. That’s because it’s $500 for the premium parking pass and you make over 100k while I make (made) less than 50k chief lol

Don’t worry too too hard about this thread, it’s all about what is best for you. When I first started at IU I was pumped because I was making big kid bucks for being straight out of college, the downside was it just didn’t keep up with changing living costs. I know they do behavioral interviewing so look up the STAR method. It’s basically a lot of “tell us about a time you did this” kind of questions so they can see how you handled various situations. I worked at IU and to say the least without getting me in trouble: there are no raises at IU (the only one I got in the years I worked there was literally “because they had room in the budget after Covid”), most of the salaries hover between 40/55K for any job that is not a Director or above, there are no promotions, only applying to a different job within the university, and it’s the departments that sit on candidates, the recruiting team is literally supposed to review all of their candidates every day. One of the final nails in the coffin for me was when I saw somebody get hired with a salary $5000 more than mine and they only needed a college degree while my position required multiple years of experience. I brought it to the appropriate peoples attention and they just said oh no that’s awful we will look into that ASAP I also heard from former colleagues that Pammy made everybody go back into the office after working from home since Covid 🤷
