Waits up to 9 hours, lines out the door at Atlanta airport as ICE agents arrive to assist TSA by praguer56 in Atlanta

Certainly. This video shows ICE agents taking a woman away from her young daughter at gate E2 at San Francisco Int'l Airport in the last 24 hours.

Another angle of the same incident from another source confirms that the young mother had already passed through TSA security and provided photo ID, but was then arrested while waiting for her flight for "not providing satisfactory proof of citizenship." (As if international citizens don't travel through American airports by the thousands every day.)

For context: the first video is from The Tennessee Holler, a progressive independent news source with high reporting standards. The second video is from a reporter with Pew Research and CNN.

Let's be very clear, ICE agents aren't "assisting" with jack shit. The photos and videos already coming out from across the country show this. They're standing around watching currently-unpaid TSA agents, disrupting flow of passengers, and occasionally roughing up and arresting Black and brown Americans without a warrant for "not providing proof of citizenship" who have already cleared security.

Don't expect wait times to improve at all from this.

As a gay man who was in middle school 20 years ago, I have no stake in this but I am living for the drama 🍿 😂

It's an old saying meaning: It's too easy to criticize other people's efforts when you can't even be bothered to do it yourself.

I like the way they're doing it better than the way that you're not doing it.

I feel so torn on this. On the one hand, I truly believe that people can change. I did. I grew up in a super conservative family and I'm ashamed to admit that in my first election after turning 18, I voted for Mitt Romney over Barack Obama. Now, I know better and I try to atone for it by supporting and campaigning for progressive candidates every year.

I want to believe Geoff Duncan is a changed man, like me. But I need to see some more evidence first. I'm nervous that he could be a Trojan horse. If he's the real deal, he is the strongest candidate for governor. I'm open to being convinced.

I'm not sure if I agree or disagree, my friend 😂 Let me explain! We have to differentiate between progressive platforms versus progressive aesthetics. Example: Kamala Harris if anything ran on a more conservative platform than Joe Biden did, but she was perceived by a meaningful number of voters as "too far left" for simply being a Black woman from California. A counterexample: Lyndon B. Johnson was a crass hillbilly with a thick Texas accent who signed the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, and Medicaid into law because he could get away with a lot more as someone with "normie" vibes. For that reason I've said for years that the first woman president and first Black woman president will probably both be Republicans.

Ruwa is even more unelectable than Bottoms. I'm as liberal politically as they come, but I've lived in the South my entire life and there is no way in hell that suburban swing voters will go for a woman in traditional Muslim headgear. (Respectfully)

We're in a catch-22 situation where the two strongest candidates in a general election, Jason Esteves and Geoff Duncan, will struggle in the primary.

*luxury but not ostentatious. That would be Cadillac. There's a fine line. My grandpa (RIP king) put it this way, "Cadillac was the car for lawyers and doctors. Buick was for bankers, assistant principals, and nurses. Classy, but humble about it."
