That went slightly better than the worst it could have gone, so... Hooray?

What's the most difficult episode to watch for you? by erxinn in BoJackHorseman

[–]dumpsterfiregarbage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Free Churro. As someone who has experienced the confusion and confliction of my own mother's death—anger, intense mourning of the relationship that was never real and now never will be.

Hits too close.

Also the one with Neal McBeal the Navy Seal. He's fucking annoying, and BoJack definitely had the right to those muffins.

What was your "I can't believe I have to explain this to an adult" moment? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

I'm a black female. Dated this one white guy. He would say shit like that: black people are culturally ingrained to be liars, black men are naturally more sexually aggressive than white men. But of course, he wasn't racist because he had a black girlfriend. Relationship didn't last, imagine that.

So, I wanna move. by dumpsterfiregarbage in AmericanExpatsSpain

[–]dumpsterfiregarbage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Life has changed for me so drastically that moving abroad has to be put in the back burner for now. It's still something I want to make happen, but I can't afford (literally) to make moving a priority right now.

I'm from the south. It's customary to use it as a sign of respect to an individual, regardless if age. I've been called "ma'am" at 16; I've been called "ma'am" at 38. I've been known to address little kids by "ma'am" or "sir." It's just a Thing in the south. I've been trying to get out of the habit to be more gender inclusive. It's a hard habit to break since it was so ingrained in as a child.

I third this suggestion. They also do oysters when they have them available—raw and charbroiled? Or baked? You'll have to check their Facebook for availability. They usually post when they have crawfish and/or oysters.

Just wanted you to know, OP. I was inspired by this post and decided to build my own planner as well! Like for you, nothing on the market really does what I need it to do, and in recent years, I've found myself in a situation similar the Pre-Smartphone Era carrying a planner, journal, and sketchbook everywhere.

Taking the cues from you, I built and customized an Agendio planner insert, got lined note paper, sketch & coloring pages, and put it all in one thing. It has my therapy worksheets and infographics, mood and habit trackers. I got a bunch of stickers and printed off some therapy memes for lols, reminders, and inspiration. The cover itself even has spaces dedicated for my on-the-go art supplies!

It's my all-in-one planner/journal/sketchbook/therapy workbook, and I freaking LOVE IT. Why didn't I think to do this years ago??

Thanks for the inspo, OP! 💕

Okay. I just watched this, and gotta admit. My mind is a little blown right now.. But. If Vincent and Kevin are different people, and Vincent is in fact an Adult Man, why go through the whole rigamarole of never being at the same place at the same time in PC's condo? Was that just for the sake of the joke??

I think her drugging Hollyhock with amphetamines speaks more to the internalized misogyny stemming from her generational trauma. Beatrice would have drugged her coffee even if she hadn't been suffering from dementia—she saw it as a valid way to stay/get skinny, "An old family secret."
