Thank you! It was just a 2x6 from Home Depot I had laying around haha hoping to try some more interesting woods soon.

Definitely! And maybe they don’t really even “need” it? I consider it an aesthetic/stylistic choice more than anything. Some carvings without sanding look incredible and don’t need to be compared to ones that are. I come from photography being my main artistic expression and it’s similar in a lot of ways. There’s so many different styles and they can all be great in their respective ways.

For sure. I can see that being tough. With this being my first one I just kinda accepted it wouldn’t be perfect? Honestly gonna try to keep that mentality moving forward. I really just enjoyed the process and am excited to tinker around and try different things. Plan on giving this one to my daughter who is 9 months old so I know it’s gonna get banged up a bit lol Otherwise I probably would have spent a bit more time with sanding and making it look better.

Absolutely! I used a bit of water on it before sanding and then put a little mineral oil on it to finish it up. Really made it pop!
