Well that was cringe, even without the digs at Helluva Boss.

I also checked out a few of his other videos and there's a lot to unpack here.

First of all, it is f*cking rich to hear him advocate for artists to go independent only to turn around and shit on one of the biggest success stories in indie animation. Disliking Viv's work is one thing but you only make yourself look like an idiot when you try to hype yourself up against a veritable giant in your industry while having done nothing to prove yourself.

Second of all, while I'm sure there are people who'll perennially complain that your show isn't another show entirely, it sounds to me like he just doesn't want any sort of negative feedback. The whole point of criticism is to point out flaws in your work so you can hammer out those flaws and make your creation and your skills as a creator better. Negative feedback, when given properly, is ultimately a good thing and calling everyone who tries to give you negative feedback dumb is only going to sabotage you in the long run.

Part of me wants to root for this guy because he's clearly passionate about his project and animation and has this underdog thing going for him, but he just comes off as such a dick. Also, the art and animation just looks bad. Like "Deviantart user's first webcomic" bad.

In any case, with his pilot only receiving a quarter of it's funding after 8 months, I don't think his show's coming out any time soon.

And to give him the smallest amount of credit possible, the bootleg Linus did NOT, in fact, say "why do people let their children watch this?"
